  • Hames-led Wildcats roll to victory over Warriors

    BLACKSBURG – Blacksburg’s Nick Hames produced big play after big play to spark the host Wildcats to a 32-14 win over Indian Land on Friday night at BHS’s Campbell Stadium.
    The Wildcats’ win gave Blacksburg its first win over IL since 2002.
    Hames keyed the Cats, 1-1, with a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown and an 83-yard pass reception in the 18-point win.
    “That Hames is a heck of a player,” IL coach Mike Mayer said. “He really hurt us tonight.”

  • Stallions dash to 46-6 win over BHS Jackets

    BISHOPVILLE – Buford looked like road warriors last week at Indian land, opening the season with a solid 27-9 victory over IL.
    This week was a different story.
    The Yellow Jackets could not ride that momentum to Bishopville on Friday night as they fell to the Class AA Lee Central Stallions, 46-6.
    A week removed from playing a turnover-free game at IL, Buford turned the ball over four times on Friday night in the 40-point loss.

  • Lions’ early surge dooms AJ in loss

    KERSHAW –Lewisville turned four Andrew Jackson turnovers into touchdowns en route to a 41-13 thumping of the Volunteers at Kershaw on Friday night.
    Lewisville senior running back Malcolm Means torched the Volunteer defense for 117 yards and three touchdowns.

    It’s the week of rebound for Lancaster County high school football teams in week three.
    All four teams will be looking to bounce back from losses in week two last Friday night.
    Three county teams will be at home.
    Lancaster, in its second home game, hosts Class AA power Central of Pageland in their first-ever football meeting.
    Buford opens its home schedule with a visit from the Athletes for Christ Rangers and Indian Land will entertain Lewisville.

  • Lady Bruins register region cross country wins at NWHS

     

       

    The Lancaster High School Lady Bruins’ cross country team opened the season with a region sweep of Northwestern and South Pointe at Northwestern High of Rock Hill on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

    With a hole to fill at center in the Lancaster High School offensive line, Bruins’ offensive line coach Joe Watson knew what was the right turn.

  • Three teams post 2-1 marks in LHS volleyball scrimmage

    Lancaster, Andrew Jackson and Central of Pageland each went 2-1 in the annual Lancaster High volleyball scrimmage in the LHS gym Saturday.

    LHS coach Betsi O’Shields said she was pleased with her team’s play.

  • Trio set to travel Friday

     

       

    Three county teams will have to do it on the road Friday night in high school football play.

    Lancaster, Buford and Indian Land will take the bus in hopes of posting a win in week two play.

  • LHS volleyball scrimmage Saturday

    The annual Lancaster High School volleyball scrimmage is Saturday, Aug. 25 in the LHS gym.

    The varsity field includes Andrew Jackson, Buford, Central of Pageland and host Lancaster on court one.

    BUFORD – Buford High School star defensive player Marcus Brown is no longer part of the Jackets’ football program, but BHS senior offensive right tackle Andrew Plyler still appreciates Brown’s play.
