  • Warriors down Lions twice for home sweep

    Indian Land swept Class A foe Lewisville in a non-region twin bill on Monday, Dec. 17 in the IL gym.

    The Warriors rallied from a 36-33 halftime deficit to notched the 70-61 win in the nightcap for the sweep.

    BUFORD – Buford High School fall sports stars had their final shining moment Monday, Dec. 17 at the annual BHS fall sports awards night.

    SPARTANBURG – Buford High School head coach Mike Wells battled a nagging cold and sore throat for the better part of last week, but for how he felt Saturday afternoon, he couldn’t have felt better.

  • Quick start sparks Cats sweep of LHS

    Rock Hill made the most of a visit to the Lancaster High Bruins’ Den, downing host LHS twice for a Region III-AAAA hardwood sweep.
    The Bearcats, ranked No. 10 in Class AAAA boys, used a fast start to notch a 73-57 win over the Bruins in the nightcap.
    The LHS girls fell in the opener, dropping a 52-51 loss.
    Rock Hill, keyed by the play of Jaylen Reid, shot to a 20-9 lead after one period and held a 33-20 edge at the half. Reid hit 14 of his game-high 19 points in the first half.

  • Nighthawks, in Roscoe fashion, just got better

    When you reflect over Northern Guilford High School’s three straight state championship seasons, one fact is obvious about the Nighthawks.
    They have made huge strides since winning that coveted first N.C. High School Athletic Association Class III-AA state crown two years ago.

  • Jackets down Red Devils

    BUFORD –  Buford capped a home sweep with a milestone win Friday, Dec. 14.
    The Jackets, avenging a tough loss to Class A’s No. 1 ranked Great Falls Red Devils, put the finishing touches on the Buford broom job in a 45-42 overtime win.
    The Lady Jackets opened the varsity twin bill with a 49-34 victory to improve the BHS girls, rated No. 9 in Class AA, to 6-1.
    The boys game was a battle to the finish with Buford taking the three-point OT win.

  • Futbol Club’s U18 team has solid fall

    The Lancaster Futbol Club saw a host of new players and coaches for its  2012 season.
    The LFC consisted of a U12 boys, U16 boys and U16 girls, with coaches Steve Cauthen, Todd Williams and longtime Lancaster coach Joel Patterson.
    These teams joined the existing U18 Girls, led by coach Lon Christensen, for a most successful and exciting season.

  • Bruins top Trojans, even region mark

    The Lancaster Bruins delivered in a big way to even their region roundball mark Tuesday, Dec. 11 in the LHS gym.

    The Bruins knocked off Region III-AAAA boys preseason favorite Northwestern with a 62-54 win over the Trojans, who fell to 2-7.
