  • Late score lifts Stallions over Yellow Jackets, 26-17

     BUFORD – Buford’s home clash with Lee Central featured a contrast in styles Friday night, Sept. 6 as Yellow Jackets hosted the Stallions.

    The Jackets, more of a ground attack, clock-consuming type offense, faced a quick-strike, up-tempo style LC plays.

  • Lady Bruins blank South Pointe, 6-0 to even tennis record at 1-1

     

    The Lancaster High girls tennis team took  their first win of the season on Thursday, Sept. 5 in Lancaster, defeating South Pointe, 6-0.

  • Lady Bruins sweep BHS in opener

     

    The Lancaster High School Lady Bruins’ volleyball team opened its season with a tough sweep of Buford on Wednesday, Sept. 4 in the BHS gym.

    Lancaster prevailed 25-17, 25-10 and 27-25.

  • Bruins’ Reid plays big

     

     Lancaster High School senior defensive end Quay “Big Country” Reid is hoping to deliver in – to no surprise – a big way in his final season with the LHS blue and gold.

    Reid, at 6-3, 235 pounds, is excited about the new campaign.

  • County trio in host role

     

    Week two of the 2013 Lancaster County high school football season has three teams in the host role.

    Lancaster, Buford and Indian Land will be at home, while Andrew Jackson takes a bus ride to Richburg to face Lewisville.

  • Four county players honored

     

    RICHBURG – Four Lancaster County prep football players were saluted for their play in games Friday night, Aug. 30.

    The quartet included Lancaster High School’s Cam Meadows and Juanyae Richardson along with Indian Land’s Shea Rodgers and Andrew Jackson’s Tray King.

  • LHS swimmers register two victories

     The Lancaster High School swim team upped its record to 3-0 with a pair of wins over Rock Hill and Hartsville at the Lancaster County pool.

    The Bruins downed region foe Rock Hill, 148-38 and took a 141-46 win over Class AAA opponent Hartsville on Thursday, Aug. 29.

  • Jackets’ early surge keys win over IL

     

    BUFORD – For the Buford Yellow Jackets and Indian Land Warriors, the 2013 high school football opener Friday, Aug. 30 was a tale of two halves.

    The host Jackets jumped to a 28-point halftime lead only to see the Warriors storm back with a shot to win in the final minute.

  • Bruins hold off Vols, win

     

    KERSHAW – Lancaster built an early lead and had to protect it on the way to a 22-12 win over Andrew Jackson’s upstart Volunteers on Friday, Aug. 30.

    The Bruins forged a 15-0 halftime edge en route to the 10-point win, but determined AJ never went away.

  • Play says plenty

    BUFORD – With only five returning experienced senior starters, it’s important that Buford High School linebacker-wide receiver Troy Cunningham step up his role this season for the 2013 Jackets’ football team.
    From a playing standpoint, BHS coach Mike Wells would be pleased with a duplicate effort from Cunningham on the field.
