  • Lady Bruins honored at Sports Report awards

     

    The Class AAA state champion Lancaster High School Lady Bruins were in the basketball spotlight, with five team members reaping hardwood honors at the High School Sports Report winter sports banquet on Sunday, April 19 in Columbia.

  • LHS Bruins to host lift-a-thon Saturday

     The Lancaster High School football team will host a team activity Saturday, April 25 with the first Bruins’ lift-a-thon in the LHS gym.

    Each LHS football player is responsible for getting nine people to sponsor him for the bench press contest that day.

  • Lady Bruins sweep Devils

     

    The surging Lancaster Lady Bruins’ softball team beat the rain and visiting Clinton High School on Friday, April 17 at the LHS field.

    Lancaster, just before the evening rain arrived, completed a sweep of the Lady Devils with an 11-0 win.

  • Vols push golf mark to 16-0

     

    The Andrew Jackson Volunteers opened the week victorious with a win over Region IV-AA rivals Buford and Central High of Pageland on Monday, April 13.

    AJ shot a 145, with Buford posting a 166 and Central carding a 181.

  • Vols blank Fairfield Central

     

     

    The Andrew Jackson boys soccer team defeated Fairfield Central, 5-0, in Winnsboro on Monday, April 13.

  • Middleton enjoys alumni game

     

    KERSHAW – Retiring Andrew Jackson High School softball coach Steve Middleton is seeing his time wind down on the diamond, and the last couple of weeks have been special in his final season in prep softball.

  • Lady Bruins top Stallions

     

    The Lancaster Lady Bruins posted a 9-2 Region III-AAA softball win over South Pointe of Rock Hill on Tuesday, April 14.

    Summer Clinton hurled two shutout innings and struck out two batters.

  • Jackets 4th in AA poll

     

    Unbeaten Buford High School, 19-0, 9-0, moved two spots to fourth in the latest S.C. Baseball Coaches Association Class AA state poll.

    The poll was released Tuesday, April 14. Buford was rated in a tie for sixth in the previous state Class AA poll released March 20.

  • Jackets clinch region

    The Buford Yellow Jackets clinched the Region IV-AA regular-season baseball championship with a 6-2 Region IV-AA win over Cheraw High School at Buford Park on Monday, April 13.
    Evan Flynn, 6-0, hurled the win in five frames of work. He struck out eight and allowed two unearned runs, no hits and three walks. Trevor Cauthen worked the final two innings, allowing a hit and a walk. He fanned two.
    Eric Miles led the BHS offense with two doubles, two RBIs and scored two runs. Brady Horton had two hits and scored twice. Druw Rollings drilled two hits and tallied a run.

  • Bruins top in KLS field

    Host Lancaster High School captured top honors for the seventh straight year in the Running for Ryan KLS county track meet at the LHS track on Saturday, April 11.
    The Bruins, with a combined 164 points, topped the four-team field in the meet held to raise awareness for Klein Levin Syndrome.
    The meet is held in memory of Ryan McKinney, a LHS graduate who ran track, but later died in 2006 of cardiac arrhythmia, which was caused by a missed diagnosis of KLS and over-medication. McKinney, at age 19, died two years after his LHS graduation.
