  • Lady Bruins booters shell Union County

    The Lancaster High Lady Bruins dominated in a senior night soccer rout of Union County High School with a 12-0 win over the Lady Yellow Jackets on Monday night at Memorial Stadium.
    Peyton Patterson paced the Lady Bruins with four goals, three in the first half, with three assists. Kayla Bailey scored two goals and added three assists.
    Heather McCain tallied two goals to aid the LHS girls.
    Michaela Burton scored a goal and added three assists.
    Ashlee Lane scored a goal and assisted Katelyn Prete on her first varsity goal.

  • Jackets swarm Bruins in 11-1 victory

    Buford, in impressive fashion, completed a season’s sweep of host Lancaster with an 11-1 win over the Bruins at LHS’s Doomsday Corner on Monday night.
    The 14-10 Jackets, who topped Lancaster, 8-7 on April 11, struck early, taking a 6-0 lead on the strength of the long ball.
    Eric Miles belted a first-inning grand slam and Druw Rollings smashed a second-inning two-run shot to spark the Jackets’ early surge.

  • Bruins capture KLS meet

    Host Lancaster High School captured top honors in the 10th annual Running for Ryan KLS county track meet held at the LHS track on Saturday.
    The annual meet, held in memory of Ryan McKinney, a former Bruins’ track athlete who graduated at LHS in 2004, featured all four county teams. McKinney died in 2006 and since that time, his mother, Donna White-Bailey, has been on a mission to raise awareness for Kleine Levin Syndrome (KLS).
    Lancaster led the way with 194 points, followed by Indian Land with 127, Andrew Jackson with 73 and Buford 69.

  • High school soccer roundup

    The Buford High School Lady Jackets evened their record at 9-9 on the season, taking a 3-1 home win over county rival Andrew Jackson in Region IV-AA play.

    The Lady Jackets’ Victoria Hinson scored three goals to lead BHS to the win. Hinson has a school record 31 goals on the season, 47 career goals.

    Emma Larson had an assist for the BHS girls. BHS keeper Tory Knight posted three saves.

  • Bruins claw Centurions, 9-2

    Lancaster capped Region III-AAA baseball play, rolling to a 9-2 win over region runner-up Broome on Thursday night at Doomsday Corner.

    The Bruins’ seven-run win gave LHS, 10-7 overall record, a 5-5 region mark.

  • Wemes’ blast lifts the Lady Jackets

    Buford’s Kristin Wemes connected on a towering two-run home run to lift the Lady Jackets to an 8-6 win over Lancaster in nine innings at the LHS softball field on Thursday night.

    Wemes’ long home run came an inning after Lancaster had ignited for two runs to tie the game at 6-all and force a second extra inning.

  • Davis to play for Pioneers

    Gabby Davis, as a three-sport standout at Buford High School, has had her share of shining moments, but it’s volleyball that’s going to take her to the next level.

    Davis, a 5-11 star outside hitter for the Lady Jackets, is bound for Spartanburg Methodist College to play for the Pioneers.

    As family and friends witnessed Thursday afternoon, she made it official signing with the NJCAA Region X school in the BHS conference room.

  • No. I Lady Warriors keep rolling

    Class AA’s top-rated Indian Land Lady Warriors blanked rival Lancaster, taking a 3-0 girls soccer win over the No. 15 Lady Bruins on Wednesday night.
    Katherine Kilroy, Kelsey Long and Nia Pressley each scored a goal. Kilroy had an assist as did Reagan Hunter and Kate Komorous.
    IL had 33 shots to four for the LHS girls.
    Emma Thompson had four saves in the shutout.
    Lancaster freshman keeper Lydia Plyler had 19 saves on the night.
    The Lady Warriors improved to 18-1, while LHS fell to 11-5.

  • AJ golfers improve to 28-1

    Andrew Jackson upped its golf record to 28-1 with wins over McBee and Manning at the Cheraw State Park course on Wednesday.
    AJ topped the field with a 150. McBee followed with a 161 and Manning finished with a 168.
    Logan Sowell shot a 34 to pace the Vols. Caleb Brown posted a 35, with Emily Cox carding a 38. Chandler Norville and Mason Sowell each had a 43. Nick Dorman carded a 49.
    AJ faces Blythewood at the Columbia Country Club on Monday and plays a four-way match with host Lugoff-Elgin, Cheraw and North Central on Wednesday.

  • Lady Jackets region champs

    The Buford High Lady Jackets neatly wrapped up the Region IV-AA softball crown with a 10-0 home win over county rival Indian Land on Wednesday night.
    The Lady Jackets, 12-0 in region play, are 15-3 on the season.
    Buford hurler Sydney Sullivan hurled a two-hitter and struck out nine in posting the complete-game win. She had no walks and hit a batter.
    Senior Jensen Shelby sparked the BHS girls with a home run, triple and drove in two runs.
    Senior Cassidy Solomon also had a big night with a double, two RBIs, a walk and was hit by a pitch.
