    Indian Land posted a solid showing in the Class AA state track meet at Spring Valley High School on Saturday, May 17.

    The Warriors, aided by a state runner-up finish, finished 18th in the 36-team field with 13 points.

    On Friday night, May 2, Lewisville High inducted its first-ever athletic hall of fame class. There were 10 inductees, including five players, three coaches and two teams. The following details the first six in the Lions class. The rest will be in a future edition.

    INDIAN LAND – The Indian Land Warriors “picked it up” and picked apart Mid-Carolina, 7-0 for a Class AA Upper State second-round playoff soccer win over the Rebels at IL’s Warrior Stadium on Friday, May 16.

    Jordan Szustwal sparked the Warriors, 18-5, with three first-half goals for a 3-0 halftime lead. Szustwal tallied two goals on penalty kicks and added the other tally on an assist from Brandon Jacob.

    Lancaster High’s Quinshun Evans and Yasmine Robinson qualified for the Class AAAA state track meet this Saturday at last Saturday’s Upper State meet.

    Evans and Robinson qualified for the discus event in the men’s and women’s events.

  • CHS ‘squeezes’ by IL in elimination game

     

    Central squeezed out a 6-5 win to stay alive in the Class AA Upper State baseball championship series on Wednesday, May 14.

    The Eagles, 23-5, scored on a walk-off suicide squeeze bunt to notch the 6-5 home win over Indian Land.

    Crescent’s Kinsley Norris sprinted home on a wild pitch to give the Lady Tigers a 3-2 walk-off win over Andrew Jackson in the Class AA Upper State championship softball playoffs on Wednesday, May 14 at the CHS field.

    The Indian Land girls continued their roll through the Class A-AA Upper State soccer playoffs with an 11-1 win over Batesburg-Leesville on Wednesday, May 14 at Warrior Stadium.

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson High School softball coach Steve Middleton said early momentum played a key role in the Lady Volunteers’ elimination game win over Ninety Six in the Class AA Upper State championship softball playoffs on Monday, May 12 at the AJ field.
