    Lancaster launched its varsity basketball season with a sweep of Lugoff-Elgin on Tuesday night in the L-E gym.

    The Lady Bruins opened the twin bill, taking a 47-37 win. The LHS boys completed the sweep with a 67-37 triumph.

    The Lancaster Bruins launched their wrestling season with an exciting comeback win over Hartsville on Tuesday night in the LHS gym.

    Hartsville held the lead for the better part of the match, but the Bruins used a pair of back-to-back forfeits to post the 36-34 win.

    The LHS boys have a solid nucleus back from their 20-6 playoff team, while the Lady Bruins also have key returnees for the new campaign.

  • Fort Mill rallies for title

    BUFORD – It was closer, but Fort Mill again prevailed over Lancaster to capture the championship in the third annual Jackets Invitational Preseason basketball tournament.
    Fort Mill, which defeated Lancaster 73-61 for the 2009 crown, captured a thrilling comeback win over the Bruins to notch the title.
    Fort Mill’s Jaquan Dupree converted a three-point with 4.6 seconds left for Fort Mill’s only lead in the game, but it proved enough to give the Yellow Jackets a 64-63 win over the Bruins.

  • Region IV-AA honors BHS players

    BUFORD – Six Buford High School standout football players have been honored by Conference IV-AA.
    The Jackets players are the team’s selections to the 2010 all-region squad as chosen by the conference coaches.
    Buford, 3-7, had one senior selection as veteran defensive back Seth Chapman was named to the all-region team.
    Chapman notched 64 tackles, with two tackles for loss, a sack, two interceptions and six batted down passes this season.
