KERSHAW – The Andrew Jackson High Lady Vols saw a great 2013 softball season come to a bitter close when they were eliminated by county and Region IV-AA rival Buford in the District 4 final last spring.
AJ, a 21-7 finisher, won the Region IV-AA championship en route to the playoffs.
The Andrew Jackson High Lady Vols’ stellar season came to a close with the disappointing 59-26 loss to Class AA’s No. 1 Bishop England High School of Charleston in the Class AA girls state championship game on Saturday, March 8 at the Colonial Life Center on the University of South Carolina campus.
Class AA girls basketball state finalists Andrew Jackson and Bishop England have 49 wins between them this season, but when their coaches reflect on their stellar seasons, they harken back to holiday tournament losses as key points in their banner campaigns.
The two teams meet Saturday at the Colonial Life Arena at 2 p.m. in Columbia.
