    LEXINGTON – Andrew Jackson gave it a shot, but Bishop England had too much firepower.

    The B-E Lady Bishops swept to their 14th straight Class AA state volleyball championship, downing Upstate champion Andrew Jackson, 3-0 at White Knoll High School on Saturday, Nov. 9.

    LEXINGTON – Andrew Jackson gave it a shot, but Bishop England had too much firepower.

    The B-E Lady Bishops swept to their 14th straight Class AA state volleyball championship, downing Upstate champion Andrew Jackson, 3-0 at White Knoll High School on Saturday, Nov. 9.

    The 39-7 Lady Bishops also extended their national record for state crowns, posting No. 24.

    KERSHAW – Dustin Eddins’ uncertainty about playing football has been transformed into a sure-handed receiver.

    Eddins, at the urging of AJ football coaches and players, joined the team prior to the Volunteers’ 2013 opener and has developed into a key receiver in the AJ offense.

    KERSHAW – A clutch run has the Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers state-bound.

  • Lady Vols win Upstate title

    The Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers are bound for the Class AA state volleyball championship after capturing the Class AA Upper State crown with a 3-1 win over Ninety Six High of Greenwood County on Wednesday night, Nov. 6 in the AJ gym.

    The AJ victory sends the Lady Vols to face Bishop England of Charleston for the Class AA state crown at White Knoll High School in Lexington where the match begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.

    AJ, in front of a packed gym, prevailed over the stubborn Lady Wildcats, 25-10 before Ninety Six came back to win, 26-24.

  • Lady Vols deck Knights for Upstate title bid

     

    Andrew Jackson High School volleyball coach John Verdugo’s long-sought win over North Central High School couldn’t have been more timely.

    Verdugo, the Lady Volunteers’ fourth-year volleyball coach, saw his team respond in the clutch for his first-ever win over the Lady Knights.
