  • Early surge keys Lady Vols victory


    INDIAN LAND – Third-ranked Indian Land took control in the second quarter and cruised to a solid 76-44 win over Eau Claire of Columbia in the opening round of the Class AA Upper State boys basketball playoffs on Thursday, Feb. 20.

    The Warriors, 18-4, held a 20-14 lead on the Shamrocks after the opening period, but they got rolling in the pivotal second quarter on the way to the 32-point win at the IL gym.

    Sophomore guard Darnell Rogers, IL’s top scorer, provided the spark, hitting 14 of his 24 points in the second period.

  • Gameday at Doomsday jamboree Saturday


    The sixth annual Gameday at Doomsday high school baseball jamboree is Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Lancaster High School baseball field.

    The field includes varsity and junior varsity teams from the four county high schools, Andrew Jackson, Buford, Indian Land and host Lancaster.

    The Indian Land High School wrestling team, coming off a strong showing in the Class AA Upper State duals tournament, leads the Lancaster County contingent to the Class AA Upper State individual tournament this weekend.

    Lancaster High senior wrestler Quinshun “Bubba” Evans captured the school’s first Region III-AAAA wrestling championship in over 10 years Feb. 1 at Fort Mill High.

  • AJ girls key sweep with undefeated league record


    PAGELAND – Andrew Jackson capped the Volunteers’ regular-season in splendid fashion, a road hoops sweep of Region IV-AA rival Central of Pageland on Monday, Feb. 17.

    The No. 5 Lady Vols rolled to complete a perfect region championship basketball season with a 72-42 win over the Lady Eagles.

  • Lady Bruins notch unbeaten region mark


    The Region III-AAAA champion Lancaster Lady Bruins, with a solid second-half charge, put the finishing touches on a perfect region basketball campaign with a 59-51 win over South Pointe of Rock Hill on Monday, Feb. 17.

  • Warriors top Jackets twice


    BUFORD – Strong finishes propelled Indian Land to a regular season-ending hoops sweep of Region IV-AA rival Buford on Monday, Feb. 17 in the BHS gym.

    The Warriors completed the hardwood broom job with a 60-43 win to give the third-ranked IL boys a perfect finish in region play with a 10-0 record.

    INDIAN LAND – Indian Land High School senior football star Manny McCord had a dream come true Feb. 5.

    McCord, who has dreamed of playing college football since his middle school days, saw it all come to fruition.
