  • Lady Vols, Warriors advance in playoffs

    Fifth-ranked Andrew Jackson was a solid winner to advance to second-round play in the Class AA Upper State volleyball playoffs on Monday afternoon.

    The 14-6 Lady Volunteers, the Conference IV-AA regular-season champions, rolled to a 3-0 win over Strom Thurmond High School in the AJ gym.

  • Eagles blank Vols in home triumph

    Central of Pageland, ranked second in the Class AA football polls, stifled Andrew Jackson, 45-0 in a key Region IV-AA contest on CHS Senior Night in Pageland on Friday.

    It was the 29th win in 30 games for the Eagles over the Volunteers. The Eagles hold a 29-5 series advantage over the Vols.

  • LHS seniors win in powder puff game

    The seniors rallied for a 12-7 win over the juniors  in the annual Lancaster High powder puff football game at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday night.

    The game was scheduled to be played during the week of LHS homecoming on Sept. 29, but was postponed due to wet playing conditions at the field following two days of rain that week.

    Lancaster High School, over the course of 25 football meetings with Gaffney, has produced little success – four wins.

    A week ago when the Buford High football made the trip to Bishopville to face Lee Central in Region IV-AA play, the Jackets were slightly short-handed.

    A few players were missing with injuries and a couple others with suspensions.

  • Resilient Lady Vols net IV-AA crown

    Determined Andrew Jackson won a seesaw volleyball battle, lifting the Lady Volunteers to the Conference IV-AA championship in a 3-2 win over county foe Indian Land on Tuesday night in the Lancaster High School gym.
