    Indian Land’s boys, 1-1, pulled out a last-second win to earn a split with visiting Cuthbertson of Union County, N.C., on Thursday, Dec. 5 in the Warriors’ gym.

    Indian Land split a three-way wrestling match with Class AA North Central and Class AAA Hartsville.

    The Warriors downed North Central, 58-21, but dropped a 45-25 loss to Hartsville.

    KERSHAW – With early-season county hardwood bragging rights on the line, rivals Lancaster and Andrew Jackson each had reason for a hoops boast Friday, Dec. 6 in the AJ gym.

    The Lady Vols garnered a solid win in the varsity opener, downing the Lady Bruins, 53-46.

    Buford split a non-region twin bill with visiting Great Falls on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in the Jackets gym.

    The Lady Jackets improved to 2-0 with a 47-42 win over the Lady Red Devils.

    BUFORD – Buford blitzed North Central twice to open the Jackets’ 2013-14 basketball season.

    The host BHS teams were in top form in ripping the Class AA Knights on Monday, Dec. 2.

  • LHS looking to veterans

    Lancaster High School basketball coaches are hoping experience will be a key factor for both hoops squads this season.

    The Lady Bruins, 11-11 last winter, have nine returnees off their team which earned a playoff berth after posting a 9-5 region mark and third-place finish.

    The Bruins, 12-13 last season, also return nine players for the upcoming campaign.

    LHS boys coach Ricardo Priester said the LHS boys will have their share of youth as four of the sophomore returnees joined the Bruins late in the 2012-13 season.

    Lancaster and Andrew Jackson boys teams had a tough night on the high school basketball hardwood, falling in second-round preseason tournaments.

    Lancaster, playing in the Lake Murray Tip-Off Classic, fell to tournament host Lexington High School, 67-50.

    AJ, in the National Guard Turkey Shootout semifinals, dropped a 61-50 loss to host West Florence High School.

  • Bruins, Volunteers post tourney wins


    The Lancaster Bruins rallied in the second half to take a 61-49 win over Chapin to open play in the Lake Murray Tip-off Classic at Lexington High School on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013.

    LHS senior guard Duece Dunlap paced the Bruins with 31 points, including six treys, in the Bruins’ victory over the Eagles.
