  • LHS Lady Bruins No. 1

    The Lancaster High School Lady Bruins are No. 1 in the latest Class AAA girls state basketball poll.

    The LHS girls, 13-0, moved to the top spot after former No. 2 Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School dropped a road loss to Spring Valley on Jan. 7.

    The LHS girls, in their last outing, rolled to a 79-32 home win over Broome High School of Spartanburg in the Lady Bruins' Region III-AAA opener.

  • Lady Jackets continue solid play, win


    CHESTERFIELD – Buford High’s 10th-ranked Lady Jackets continued their solid hardwood play to help BHS to a Region IV-AA basketball split with host Chesterfield on Friday, Jan. 9.

    The BHS boys, in the nightcap, dropped a tough overtime loss to the Rams, 66-64.

  • Volunteers net two wins over Knights


    BOONETOWN – Andrew Jackson’s short trip to rival North Central High in Boonetown was a hoops boon for the Volunteers.

    AJ’s Vols took a pair from the host Knights in Region IV-AA play.

  • Bruins sweep Broome


    The host Lancaster Bruins notched some hoops history in impressive fashion Friday, Jan. 9 in the LHS gym.

    The Bruins, playing their first Region III-AAA basketball game, swept Broome High School of Spartanburg as the LHS teams opened the 2015 portion of their 2014-15 basketball season.

  • Warriors wing Eagles twice


    INDIAN LAND – The Indian Land Warriors opened the 2015 portion of their basketball schedule with an impressive home sweep of the Central of Pageland Eagles on Tuesday, Jan. 6.

  • Vols make strides on prep mat


    A host of Andrew Jackson High School wrestlers have produced some solid showings on the mat in recent weeks.

    The Volunteers, who are hampered by low team numbers, have competed well in some individual matches.

  • FTs spark Lady Jackets in OT victory


    BUFORD – The 10th-ranked Buford High Lady Jackets were looking to rebound after a tough holiday tournament and seeking to get back into rhythm against a tough 8-3 Cheraw team on Tuesday, Jan. 6 in Region IV-AA play.

  • Vols down Demons twice


    KERSHAW – The Andrew Jackson Volunteers’ basketball teams repeated in a rematch.

    On Dec. 4 at Lugoff-Elgin High School, the Andrew Jackson basketball teams swept the host Demons.

  • Jackets go 2-2 in Hartsville tourney

     The Buford Yellow Jackets wrestling team went 2-2 in the recent Hartsville Red Fox tournament.

    The BHS grapplers posted wins over Hammond (28-21) and Timberland (34-33), but fell to Aynor (42-27) and Lake City (37-26).

  • Lady Bruins rated No. 2


    The unbeaten Lancaster High School Lady Bruins’ 12-0 record has earned them statewide attention.

    The LHS girls of coach Ronnie Robinson, unranked in the preseason Class AAA girls state poll, are No. 2 in the latest Class AAA girls state poll.
