  • Warriors split at Sun Valley

     

    The Indian Land Warriors pushed their record to 3-0, posting an 84-75 win over Sun Valley of Union County, N.C., on Friday, Dec. 5.

    The Warriors’ backcourt teamed for 62 points in the nine-point win over the Spartans.

  • Clover tops in Kersey mat field

     

    Clover racked up 217.5 points and captured the team title in the annual Mike Kersey Memorial Invitational at Indian Land High School on Saturday, Dec. 6.

    The annual tournament is held in memory of late ILHS wrestling coach Mike Kersey, who died in the fall of 2011.

  • Buford splits with FHHS

     

    Buford, coming off of a stunning victory at ninth-ranked Great Falls, looked to create a win streak against the Yellow Jackets of Forest Hill High School in Marshville, N.C.

    The BHS boys, in the process, sought to notch coach Garrett Hammond’s first home victory as varsity head coach. 

  • Jackets’ early run downs Bruins

     

    Buford made quick work of rival Lancaster, taking a 51-30 high school wrestling win over the Bruins on Thursday, Dec. 4 in the LHS gym.

    The Jackets swarmed to a 39-0 lead and cruised to the 21-point victory over LHS.

  • Vols optimistic about wrestling program

     

    HEATH SPRINGS – Andrew Jackson third-year wrestling coach Rob Tomalis is optimistic about the Volunteers' wrestling squad for 2014-15.

    AJ has eight wrestlers who have varsity experience and Tomalis said he hopes to build on his veterans this winter.

  • Jackets stun Red Devils, net sweep

     

    GREAT FALLS – Great Falls had a devil of a time with visiting Buford High School on Friday, Dec. 5.

    The Jackets, on a trip to the Red Devils’ gym, took two from Great Falls for a hardwood sweep of the Chester County Class A school.

  • Bruins, Volunteers split

     

     A hoops split proved to be a delight for host Lancaster and Andrew Jackson on Friday, Dec. 5 in the LHS gym.

    Each team, in the first of two hardwood battles among the county rivals this season, took a win in the Bruins’ Den.

  • IL Warriors split in opener

     

    Indian Land split in its varsity opener Tuesday, Dec. 3 when the Warriors battled Culbertson at ILHS.

    The CHS girls, led by former Buford coach Joel Allen, took a 50-27 win, and the IL boys rebounded for the 78-71 victory.

  • Jackets split in home opener

     

    The Buford boys opened their regular-season hoops slate at home with the Lewisville Lions, hoping to make coach Garrett Hammond’s varsity hardwood debut a bright one, but the Lions had other plans.

    The Buford girls stayed unbeaten as the Lady Jackets prevailed in the opener.

  • Vols divide pair with LC Stallions

     

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson opened its 2014-15 hoops season with a split with Class AA foe Lee Central in the AJ gym on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

    The game was not a surprise that it was a tough battle from the beginning for both Volunteers’ teams.
