  • Bruins booters blank Centurions, go to 8-1

     

    The Lancaster Bruins pushed their soccer mark to 8-1 with a 3-0 win over Region III-AAA foe Broome High of Spartanburg on Monday, March 30.

    Zeke Williams tallied a goal and Jonathan Monsalvo scored for a 2-0 LHS edge.

    More than any season in recent memory, the 2015 edition of the Buford High varsity boys soccer team  sports a roster filled with equal parts returning players, and freshmen newcomers eager to leave their mark.

  • Vols, Jackets start strong

     

    The Andrew Jackson Volunteers went 2-1 in the opening round of the Founders Diamond Challenge at Cheraw High School on Monday, March 30.

    The Volunteers topped Lamar, 5-4, blanked Latta, 2-0, and dropped a 5-4 loss to host Cheraw High in the nightcap.

    Expectations are high for the Andrew Jackson  men’s varsity soccer program after two consecutive appearances in the quarterfinals of the Class AA Upper State playoffs.

    Andrew Jackson High  girls soccer coach Lee Hanna said the key for the Lady Vols’ booters this season is consistent play.

    Hanna, assisted by Kim Threatt, has his share of experience this season, including 13 returnees.

  • Lady Vols down Warriors, Bruins

     

    The Andrew Jackson Lady Vols softball team stayed unbeaten in Region IV-AA play with a 2-1 home win over county rival Indian Land on Friday, March 27.

    IL took an early 1-0 lead, but AJ, 10-3, 6-0, rallied for two runs to notch the comeback win behind hurler Hannah Cobb, who tossed a four-hitter and struck out nine batters. She walked one.

  • SMC signs Crenshaw

     

    BUFORD – Buford High School ace golfer Garrett Crenshaw is extending his family links legacy as well as his education and athletic career.

    Crenshaw, a three-sport standout at the eastern Lancaster County Class AA high school, is following in some familiar footsteps.

  • Indian Land High receives $5,000 donation from Harris Teeter

     

    Indian Land High School has received a $5,000 donation from Harris Teeter which will be used to purchase additional weight room equipment.

    The awarding of the $5,000 was made at a special presentation at the West Town Market Harris Teeter in Fort Mill on Tuesday, March 24.

  • Humphrey seeks solid balance for LHS girls soccer

     

    The Lancaster Lady Bruins soccer team is looking for the right balance for the 2015 soccer season.

    The Lady Bruins returned nine players from the 16-7 playoff team of last spring, but third-year head coach Ed Humphrey is looking to some new players to fill in at key roles.

  • Tarque pleased with Bruins’ early play

     

    Lancaster High School third-year boys soccer coach Alex Tarque is happy with the Bruins start on the 2015 soccer season and hopes they can continue to produce on the pitch.

    Tarque has experience in his lineup, with 10 players back from the 2014 LHS soccer team.
