    FORT MILL – The storm never came, but the Fort Mill football blitz did as the host Yellow Jackets swarmed the Lancaster Bruins early on the way to a stinging 38-21 win on Friday night at Bob Jones Stadium in Fort Mill.

    Rain and stormy weather was expected, but it was the Jackets who hit the Bruins hard.

    The Yellow Jackets ignited for 31 first-half points on the way to the 17-point win.

    Lancaster battled back in the second half, but the Yellow Jackets’ earlier damage was too much to overcome.

    Fast-starting Fort Mill bolted to a 31-0 halftime lead on the way to a 38-21 win over Lancaster on Friday night.

    LHS fell to 1-1 with the 17-point loss.

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson’s Jamie Hinson intercepted a fourth-down end zone pass in the final seconds to secure the Volunteers’ 25-21 win over the Aynor Blue Jackets on Friday night in the AJ home opener.

    The game was a battle, with Aynor building an early lead before AJ rallied for the comeback win over the Blue Jackets.

    Aynor, 1-1, began the game with a score on a 44-yard pass to Nathan Williamson. The Blue Jackets tallied the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.

  • Big-play Rams blast Warriors

    INDIAN LAND – The Indian Land Warriors were back at home Friday night to face a familiar foe, the unbeaten Chesterfield Rams.

    The Warriors and Rams were in the same Class AA region just two years ago. The No. 7 Rams still looked the same, using their speed and Indian Land's mistakes, to bolt to a 20-0 lead seven minutes into the game.

    The Rams used big plays to pull away for a 48-25 win Friday night at the ILHS Reservation.

  • Falcons edge Bruins, 14-7

    The game wasn’t a thing of football beauty, but Nation Ford coach Michael Allen was all for the taking.

    He had to be.

    The Falcons, at Lancaster Memorial Stadium on Friday night, were in quest of their first win on the season and they went home victors with a tough 14-7 non-region win.

    “It’s a ‘W,’ ” said Allen after addressing his Falcons’ team.

    All the scoring came in the first half as the Falcons built their seven-point edge.
