Matthew Terry shot an even par 144 (73-71) to capture the boys 15-18 win in the Roy Small Junior Championship and the Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association age division title.
Terry, a Central High School of Pageland golfer, also earned the chapter’s Player of the Year Award.
The Lancaster Dixie Boys 13 baseball all-stars finished as the state runner-up in the tournament at Bluffton on Wednesday, July 25.

Brien Clyburn led the Lancaster offense with two hits. Bobby Delly had a hit and scored three runs. Jonah Crenshaw had a hit, RBI and scored twice. Tyler Rodgers supplied a hit and drove in a run.

Grayson Snipes’ sacrifice fly to deep center field scored Jason Dobbins with what proved to be the winning run.

Sun City Carolina Lakes swimmer Fred Ruppenthal is just getting better with age.
The 78-year-old won six gold medals in the Beaufort County Senior Games in Bluffton on Nov. 1, 2011, two of them in events he doesn’t usually swim in.
“They are beautiful medals, with a torch on the front,” he said.
Ruppenthal, who has dominated the state’s senior swimming scene since he moved here in 2007, won four freestyle events and two backstroke events.

Lancaster Post 31 fell in its opening game of the American Legion state baseball tournament, dropping a 4-1 loss to Goose Creek at Greenwood's Nave Stadium on Saturday morning.
Lancaster, 21-9, snapped a scoreless draw in the sixth when Tripp Rollings’ RBI-hit scored Bobby Delly who had singled and stole second.
Goose Creek came back to score two unearned runs in the sixth and a pair in the eighth to take the three-run win.
