      A gorgeous spring day greeted 88 golfers on Saturday, April 26 as they participated in the 13th annual Matt Blackwell Foundation Golf Tournament at the Lancaster Golf Club.

Tony Kennedy’s 30-foot birdie putt proved vital in the snack team’s victory in the tourney, which raises scholarship funds for Lancaster County students.

      A field of 150 runners, including the 2013 overall winner, is expected to compete in the Lancaster Runs 5K race for Literacy on Saturday morning at the University of South Carolina Lancaster.

      Todd Ellis, the radio voice of USC Gamecocks football, had good news for University of South Carolina fans at the spring meeting of the Lancaster County Gamecock Club on Thursday night, April 3 at the Bradley Building on the University of South Carolina Lancaster campus.
  • A notable day with a true golf champion
          It was the spring of 1969. A beautiful day. I had a couple months to go before getting out of the Navy, after spending eight years in blues and whites. Since October of the previous year, I had been schooled on the rudiments of golf by a Navy buddy who had once been on the University of Houston golf team. 
  • Lancaster County Gamecock Club meeting Thursday
      The Lancaster County Gamecock Club’s spring meeting is Thursday, April 3 in the University of South Carolina Lancaster’s Bradley Building. A shrimp boil will be served at 6 p.m. and the program will follow the meal.
