  • Shutout win helps Lancers dodge sweep
    The USCL Lancers dodged a diamond sweep from Louisburg College on Sunday afternoon. The second-ranked Hurricanes, 36-4, won the first three-games of the four-game Region X series, but the Lancers avoided the sweep with a 3-0 win over Louisburg on Sunday afternoon.
  • Lancers split with Indians
    The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers split four games in a weekend series with USC Salkehatchie in Allendale. The 13th-ranked Lancers, 27-6, 9-3, split a twin bill on Saturday and took one of two Sunday afternoon.

          The winning team in the fourth annual A.R. Rucker Middle School Relay for Life golf tournament posted a one-shot win in the captain’s choice event at the Lancaster Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.

  • USCL rolls with sweep of Limestone jayvees
    Staff Reports The 13th-ranked University of South Carolina Lancers rolled to a pair of non-region baseball wins, taking two from the Limestone junior varsity in Gaffney on Wednesday. The Lancers, 25-4, swept the Junior Saints, 9-3 and 11-2. In the six-run win, John McClure, 5-1, was the  winner in four innings of work. He allowed two runs, both earned, three hits, three walks and hit a batter.
  • Sutton off to fast start in US Kids
          Anthony “T” Sutton, a Buford Elementary fifth grader, has started strong this season in youth golf. Sutton has won the first four tournaments of the U.S. Kids Tour in Charlotte.
  • Lancers smash Fire Ants
    The 13th-rated University of South Carolina Lancaster baseball team continued its dazzling diamond play, taking three of four games from the USC Sumter Fire Ants over the weekend. The 23-4 Lancers improved to 7-1 in National Junior College Athletic Association Region X play with the three wins, one in extra innings.

          The  38th Universal Martial Arts Championships, sponsored by Hanshi James White, featured an action-packed day at the Springdale Recreation Center on March 10.

  • USCL Lancers sweep Junior Red Wolves
    The University of South Carolina Lancaster baseball team celebrated its first-ever national ranking with a sweep of the Newberry College junior varsity on Thursday at the Lancaster High School field. The 13th-ranked Lancers, 20-3, have posted 12 straight wins. USCL topped the Junior Wolves, 7-2, 7-3 in the sweep. Earlier this season, the Lancers split a twin bill with the NC jayvees. The Lancers laced 11 hits in posting the five-run win in the opener.
