How is it that Thanksgiving has passed and still there are turkeys among us?
The fine flock of football forecasters is still here, but not for long.

The Buford Middle School Jackets’ football team posted a 14-8 win over Indian Land Middle School on Thursday, Oct. 25.
Buford, 3-5, scored on a one-yard run by Isaah Nesbit. Matt Hunter’s 30-yard run to the ILMS one to set Nesbit’s short scoring run.
The seniors took top honors in the fifth annual Buford High School powder puff football game held during the week of the annual BHS homecoming, Sept. 24-28.
The game is the major fundraiser for the Future Educators Association at Buford High School. Each team included 20 players.
The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lady Lancers soccer team made history, winning a bid to the Region X tournament at Spartanburg Methodist with a 3-1 play-in match win over the USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians on Wednesday in Allendale.
Dexter Cook sparked the winning team in the annual Rub of the Green golf tournament at the Lancaster Golf Club on Thursday, Oct. 18.
Cook teamed with Laura Crawford, Fred Phipps and Jay Rainey to post a 51.2 to capture the win in the 21-team field.
Close play highlighted the eighth annual Neil McMackin Memorial golf tournament at the Lancaster Golf Club on Friday, Sept. 21.
The field, which drew 30 teams, had winners in the gross and net (with handicap) divisions.
The second annual Run with the Bruins 5K run/walk and kids fun run will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 at Lancaster Memorial Stadium on Stadium Street.
Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to join the Bruins’ cross country team on Saturday morning.
Youth basketball registration for boys, ages 7-15, and girls, ages 7-12, begins Monday, Oct. 1.
The fee is $50 per child. All middle and high school students may sign up with LCPR, and if a player makes the school basketball team, the fee will be refunded.
