Lightning strikes gold in Hilton Head hoops tourney

The Palmetto Lightning girls 12-under basketball team captured the championship in the Hilton Head Takeover AAU tournament on April 9-10. The Lightning captured the crown with a 42-39 win over the SC 76ers in Hilton Head on April 10.

The University of South Carolina at Lancaster Lancers fell to Pitt Community College in a pair of weekend doubleheaders. The Lancers, on Sunday, fell 6-2 and 5-2.

USCL softball home Friday, Saturday

The USCL Lancers softball team will be at home Friday and Saturday for a pair of games with USC-Salkehatchie. The twin bill Friday begins at 3 p.m., with game two at 5. On Saturday, the doubleheader begins at noon and the second game is at 2 p.m.

USCL tennis camps set

The University of South Carolina at Lancaster will hold tennis camps June 6-9 and June 13-16 at the J.P. Richards Complex. The camps, for youngsters ages 5-16, are designed to introduce the game of tennis and help players develop their tennis game.

The duo of Greg Sigmon and Chris Langley captured first-place honors in the third annual Friends of the Lady Jackets bass fishing tournament held Saturday at Fishing Creek Landing. Sigmon and Langley teamed for 14.46 pounds to top the 11-boat field.

The University of South Carolina at Lancaster captured the final game of a four-game set to go 1-3 with Florence-Darlington Tech in Region X baseball play over the weekend. The Lancers took a 6-5 win over the Stingers to earn a split of the twin bill at the Lancaster High School baseball field on Sunday.
