The Lancaster Post 31 juniors stretched their unbeaten League V baseball mark to 7-0 with a pair of league wins earlier this week.
The Lancaster juniors opened the week with a 10-7 win over Chester on Tuesday night at Eggleton Field.
Lancaster built a 7-0 spread after three innings and held on for the three-run win.
Chandler Gardner, who pitched 5.2 innings, was the winner, allowing four hits, three runs and four walks. He struck out seven.
University of South Carolina pitcher-outfielder Steven Neff received the call of a lifetime for the third time in his baseball career, but he’s focused on the Gamecocks’ task at hand.
Neff, the former Lancaster High School and Lancaster American Legion Post 31 baseball star, was one of 11 USC players drafted this week in the annual Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Neff, a junior pitcher-outfielder, was taken in the 41st round by the World Champion San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.

The Lancaster Makos opened their swim season, taking a 314-189 over Camden at the Lancaster County pool on Tuesday.
The meet marked the Makos’ debut after the Lancaster County team was split this season.
The Makos were led by Michaela Burton, Logan Phillips, Gracie Scott and Bryce Blanton, who posted four wins each.
Anna Funderburk and Taylor Teague tallied three firsts apiece. Riley Burton, Carson Blackmon and Jonathan Catoe each tallied two firsts.

Lancaster Motor Speedway hosts seven exciting racing divisions Saturday night at the half-mile oval.
LMS officials expect to see a few more Crate Sportsman cars as the Crate Sportsman drivers will be preparing for the Kenny Helms Memorial race.

The Nucor Steel Berkeley golf tournament has hit its second decade and is going as strong as ever.
The 11th annual tournament, held in memory of Lancaster native Jamie Craig, was played earlier this spring and drew its largest field of golfers, 335 participants.
The 2010 tournament had 315 golfers.
“This tournament continues to get larger,” said Buffy Fortner, a Nucor Steel cost accountant who has worked with the event for 10 years, including the last nine as chairman.
