          Shawn Crawford’s run for London fell shy of an 2012 Olympic quest Sunday afternoon at the U.S. Olympic Trials for track and field at Heyward Field at the University of Oregon.
  • P-31 ignites, clubs Clover
    Two days prior to July Fourth, the Lancaster American Legion Post 31 senior baseball team produced their share of fireworks on the diamond. Post 31 rolled to an 11-1 win over Clover, posting the League V win in seven innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
  • P-31 seeks strong finish
    After a tough loss, the Lancaster Post 31 senior baseball team faces a challenging week. P-31, which dropped a 12-10 road loss to Rock Hill after leading 7-0 at one point, will open the final week of regular-season play with three games. Rock Hill, 12-3, has completed its season. Lancaster, 9-3 in League V play, opens the week with a home game against Clover at 7 p.m. Monday. P-31 travels to Chester on Tuesday and then visits Fort Mill Post 43 on Thursday to cap regular-season play.
  • Blitz nets bid to Southern Championship
    Staff Reports The Palmetto Blitz, a 12-under travel softball team, is on a diamond tear this season. The Blitz, coached by Katherine Small, Jimmy Abbott and Randy Cauthen, has compiled a 29-2 record, with both losses by one run. The team’s success has earned it a bid to the NSA Southern Championship in Tallahassee, Fla., Aug. 1. The Blitz includes girls from Lancaster and the Andrew Jackson and Buford areas.
  • Dixie Youth AA stars win district title
    Staff Reports The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AA all-stars wrapped up the District II championship and a bid to the state tournament with a 7-0 win over tournament host Chester on Thursday night. The Lancaster AA stars will open play in the state tournament at Lexington on July 7 at 10 a.m. The Lancaster stars, who took the district tournament title in three games, were led by Landon Deese who drilled a triple and scored a run in the championship game. Austin Kennington and Jarrett Laney each laced a double. J.R. Cunningham scored two runs.

    The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AA all-stars, ages 7-8, remained unbeaten in district tournament play with a 7-3 win over host Chester on Wednesday night. The Lancaster stars returned to Chester on Thursday, seeking a win to wrap up the district title and a bid to the state tournament.

          The Lancaster Tigers pushed their summer swim team record to 5-0 with a 300-250 road win over Camden on Saturday, June 23.
  • Post 31 pounds Chester
    The Lancaster Post 31 senior team bounced back in a big way Tuesday night at home. The P-31 seniors, coming off a 5-2 road loss to York Post 66 on Monday night, rebounded with a 20-2 rout of Chester Post 27.
  • Makos notch swim win over Lancaster Tigers
          The Lancaster Makos topped the Lancaster Tigers, 274-272 in a close meet at the Lancaster County pool on Tuesday afternoon.
