The Lancaster High School golf team capped regular-season play with a 9-3 record after defeating Region III-AAAA foe Northwestern High School at Watorford Park Golf Club in Rock Hill.
LHS carded a 169 to Northwestern’s 229.
The LHS girls were led by Alexandria McCain and Emily Cox, who each posted a 40. Carly Funderburk notched a 44 and Ina Roberts had a 45.
Rachel Hovis had a 48 and Carley Snyder posted a 53.
University of South Carolina women’s soccer player Cyndle McGuinness, a freshman out of Gilbert, has been honored as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Player of the Week.
She is the second Lancers player to earn the honor this fall.
The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers soccer team rolled to a 7-2 road win over the Oxford (Ga.) College Lady Eagles on Saturday.
The Lancers came out strong in the first half, scoring the first three goals. With less than five minutes remaining, the Eagles finally found the net ending the half with a 3-1 USCL lead.
The winning team needed sudden death to win the annual Rotary Club golf tournament at the Lancaster Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.
The foursome of Buck Tucker, Bryan Forbis, Andy Caudill and Josh Tucker used a birdie on No. 13 to win in a card playoff.
