Juniors top seniors in BHS powder puff football game

The Buford juniors captured the annual Buford High School powder puff football game with an exciting 12-6 win over the seniors. Carley Bailey hit Alicia Wright on a 20-yard pass to give the juniors a 12-6 overtime win.

The seniors defeated the juniors 25-6 in the annual Lancaster High School powder puff football game held at Memorial Stadium during annual LHS homecoming week last week. The juniors broke on top 6-0 as Flo Tarque hit Brittany Reese on a five-yard scoring pass.

Springs Memorial team’s 58 tops Rub of the Green field

The Springs Memorial Hospital team topped a 17-team field to win the 19th annual Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce’s Rub of the Green golf tournament at the Lancaster Golf Club on Thursday afternoon. The Springs Memorial team, which shot a 14-under 58, included Nathan Crabtree, Doug Arbour, Charles Wright and Ronnie Daves.

Lancers blank Indians

The USCL Lady Lancers blanked USC-Salkehatchie, 2-0 to improve their record to 8-4 on Wednesday. The wet field didn’t distract the Lady Lancers from getting dirty. The Lancers dominated the field over the Lady Indians. USCL created many scoring opportunities, especially on corner kicks.

LHS golf team wins, hosts region field

Staff Reports The Lancaster High School golf team capped regular-season play with a 9-3 record after defeating Region III-AAAA foe Northwestern High School at Watorford Park Golf Club in Rock Hill. LHS carded a 169 to Northwestern’s 229. The LHS girls were led by Alexandria McCain and Emily Cox, who each posted a 40. Carly Funderburk notched a 44 and Ina Roberts had a 45. Rachel Hovis had a 48 and Carley Snyder posted a 53.
