  • LCPRC Angels stars soar to crown
      The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Commission Dixie Softball Angels all-stars, in dramatic fashion, captured the district softball championship and a bid to the state tournament on Wednesday, June 24. The Lancaster Angels stars, age 10-under, posted two wins over Jefferson to take the district championship on Wednesday night.
  • County softball stars battling in district tournament play
      Three Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Dixie Softball all-star teams entered play Tuesday, June 23, seeking to stay alive in district tournament play. The Lancaster American League Darlings, ages 7-8, are 3-1 in the double-elimination field in Pageland.
  • P-31 falls short to Clover
      Clover edged Lancaster, 6-5 to drop the Post 31 record to 4-5 on the season on Monday, June 22. Lancaster, down 6-0 late, rallied only to fall short in the narrow League V baseball loss.
  • Class AAA, AA stars start strong
      The Lancaster Class ÅAA all-stars, ages 9-10, rallied to stay unbeaten in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 tournament, taking a 12-7 win over Gaffney on Monday, June 22 in York. Lancaster, in the bottom of the fifth, ignited for five runs with Adam Wright’s three-run homer keying the LDB AAA stars’ charge.
  • Ozone stars win district
      The Lancaster Dixie Baseball Ozone all-stars are state-bound. The Ozone stars, ages 11-12, completed a splendid 3-0 run in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 tournament with a 15-3 win over the Lewisville stars on Friday, June 19 at Ronnie Gandy Field in the Wylie Park Complex.
  • P-31 rebounds, edges Rock Hill, 7-5
      Lancaster Post 31 evened its record at 4-4 with a 7-5 road win over Rock Hill Post 34 in League V Legion baseball play Friday, June 19. Lancaster, coming off an 8-6 loss to Fort Mill on Thursday, scored the runs it needed in the sixth as Brady Horton drilled a RBI single, Druw Rollings ripped a two-run double and scored on a passed ball. Kipp Rollings banged a triple and tallied on Andrew Caskey's run-scoring single for a 7-3 lead.

        Some of the best times I had as youngster was tagging along with my father, the late Jim Howey, as he called high school football games every Friday night during the season. We’d leave Friday afternoon and he’d make his way to his destination to work a game.
  • Strong finish gives Tucker win
      Mason Tucker used a solid finish to win the boys 10-12 division in the Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association’s second tournament at the White Plains Golf club on Monday, June 15. Tucker posted a one-shot win, carding a 36 over nine holes from the red tees.
  • CPTC captures 46 medals at state meet
      The Columbus Parker Track Club received 46 medals and qualified 19 athletes to compete in the regional meet at Eastside High School in Taylors on June 25-28. The CPTC athletes qualified for the regionals while competing in the state meet in Hilton Head.
  • LCST wins over Kershaw
      The Lancaster County swim team is now 2-0 after taking a 398-125 win over Kershaw on Tuesday, June 16 at the Lancaster County pool.
