The Lancaster Soil and Water Conservation District, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources and Clemson Extension 4-H has planned a hunter’s education class on Friday, July 13 from 9 a.m. To 3 p.m. at the Van Wyck Community Building.
The class will be taught by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources for people age 12 and up.

The Lancaster County Dixie Softball Darlings all-stars capped an impressive run to earn a bid to the state tournament next month in Hanahan.
The Darlings stars, ages 7-8, completed a 4-0 run with a 15-9 win over the Chester stars.
The Darlings’ six-run win sends them to the state tournament July 6 at Hanahan of North Charleston.

The Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association capped the first half of its regular-season tournament play with a visit to the Kershaw Golf Club on Monday, June 18.
Josh Payseur, who plays for the Great Falls High School golf team, made his first appearance for the season in the boys 15-18 age division and made it count with a one-under 71 over 18 holes.
“Josh can play with the best of them and it showed it at Kershaw on Monday,” Lancaster chapter director Raymon Chisom said. “He had a solid day.”

The Lancaster Makos improved to 3-1 on the season, taking a 333-190 win over the Kershaw Stingrays on Tuesday, June 19, at the Lancaster County pool.
The Makos were led by Will Burton, Emily Durant, Nathan Reid and Gracie Scott, who posted four wins each in the meet.
Taylor Teague, Michaela Burton and Grayson Young each had three wins for the Makos. Jaden Young added two wins for the Makos.

The Lancaster Post 31 junior baseball team fell to 3-8 on the season, dropping back-to-back games to Rock Hill Post 34.
On Thursday at home, Rock Hill edged the Lancaster juniors, 10-7. On Wednesday, Rock Hill rolled to a 12-1 home win over Lancaster.
In the game Thursday night at Eggleton Field, Trey Payne went six innings and took the loss. He allowed seven hits, six walks and hit a batter.
Payne struck out four. Austin Pate worked an inning in relief and fanned one.

The Lancaster Post 31 senior team ignited for seven runs over the final three innings to notch a 12-8 American Legion baseball League V road win over Clover Post 38 on Tuesday night.
The four-run win came after P-31 had dropped its first league loss in a 12-3 defeat to Rock Hill Post 34 on Monday night at Eggleton Field.

Alexandria McCain, a two-time all-region golfer at Lancaster High School and a graduate of Indian Land High School, shot an 86 over 6,200 yards at the Divide Golf Course in Matthews, N.C., where she won her division age group in the Optimist Club youth golf tournament Sunday, June 3.
McCain, the 2011 LHS golf MVP, will attend Converse College in the fall after signing with the CC Valkryies last fall.
Other winners were Ben Ferris, 13, of Charlotte, Sean O’Connor, 14, of Indian Trail, N.C., and Jarett Stowe, 16, of Matthews, N.C.

Lancaster Motor Speedway will host the NDRA GM Performance Late Models Division on Saturday night in Lancaster.
The Saturday event will feature seven divisions of racing.
The winner of the NDRA GM Performance Late Models earns $1,000 and $100 to start. The NDRA GM Performance Late Models will qualify and run heat races.
The purse for the Super Street is $600, the Crate Sportsman: $500, and $400 for the Pure Street.
The Vintage, Stock 4 and FWD/UCAR will also be running on Saturday night.
The Lancaster Makos swim team improved to 2-1 on the season, taking a 279-269 win over host Camden on Saturday.
The Makos were led by Will Burton, Micheala Burton and Coulter Jackson who had four wins each. Brooks Digh, Taylor Teague, Grayson Young and Jaden Young each had three firsts in the meet.
The Lancaster Tigers topped the Chester Waves 304-215 on Thursday, June 14 in Chester.
The Tigers were paced by Charlee Brooke Henry, Jonah Faile, Alaina Houghtaling and MaKenzie Henry who registered four firsts each.
