The Palmetto Blitz, a 12-under travel softball team, is on a diamond tear this season.
The Blitz, coached by Katherine Small, Jimmy Abbott and Randy Cauthen, has compiled a 29-2 record, with both losses by one run.
The team’s success has earned it a bid to the NSA Southern Championship in Tallahassee, Fla., Aug. 1.
The Blitz includes girls from Lancaster and the Andrew Jackson and Buford areas.

The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AA all-stars wrapped up the District II championship and a bid to the state tournament with a 7-0 win over tournament host Chester on Thursday night.
The Lancaster AA stars will open play in the state tournament at Lexington on July 7 at 10 a.m.
The Lancaster stars, who took the district tournament title in three games, were led by Landon Deese who drilled a triple and scored a run in the championship game.
Austin Kennington and Jarrett Laney each laced a double. J.R. Cunningham scored two runs.
