  • Kershaw Stingrays swim team registration
    The Kershaw Stingrays swim team will hold its registration for the 2014 season on Monday, March 10 and Thursday, March 13 from 4 to 6 p.m.at the Kershaw Bowling Alley. Swim suits and other items related to the swim season will also be ordered at that time.  For more details, call the Kershaw Recreation Department at (803) 475-2142.    
  • Evans will compete in Down Under golf tourney
      South Middle School eighth grader Baylee Evans, a standout member of the Lancaster High School golf team and an all-star with the Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association, has been invited to the Down Under Sports International Golf Tournament in Brisbane, Australia.
  • Lancers top Junior Wolves to even mark
      The University of South Carolina Lancaster baseball team snapped a four-game skid in resounding fashion with a 14-2 win over the Newberry College junior varsity on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the Lancaster High School baseball field.
  • Barr Street High School Foundation to host ‘Glory Road’
      The Barr Street High School Foundation, Inc. will sponsor the movie “Glory Road” on Saturday, March 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the Crown Cinema in Lancaster. The movie “Glory Road” is about the Texas Western Miners basketball team, which captured the 1966 NCAA national championship.
  • Trio’s 24-under tops Kings of Kershaw
      The winning threesome shot a 24-under over 27 holes to win the annual Kings of Kershaw golf tournament at the Kershaw Golf Club on Saturday, Feb. 8.
  • Rams sweep Mustangs for perfect finishes
     The Rucker Rams garnered the gold in a sweet hardwood sweep Monday, Feb. 17 in the packed Lancaster High School gym. The Rams, in contrasting fashion, captured both ends of the hoops twin bill to down rival South Middle School.
  • Gamecock Club sets spring meeting April 3
      The Lancaster County Gamecock Club’s spring meeting is Thursday, April 3 in the University of South Carolina Lancaster’s Bradley Building. A shrimp boil will be served at 6 p.m. and the program will follow.
  • NJCAA tabs Wallace
      SPARTANBURG – The NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association has announced its 2014 Baseball Hall of Fame class and Spartanburg Methodist College’s Tim Wallace is one of four inductees.
  • Lancers go 1-2 with Knights
      Middle Georgia State College took two of three baseball games from the University of South Carolina Lancaster over the weekend, Feb. 8-9. On Saturday, the Lancers split a twin bill with Middle Georgia, winning the opener, 9-8 before dropping the nightcap, 8-3.
  • Coach Few helped KHS Eagles soar
        Kershaw High School, which closed in 1969 to become what is now Andrew Jackson High, is part of the past, but there’s a solid wager KHS and its storied football program under legendary coach Bill Few have been part of many memories and conversations in the last few days.
