  • Rucker Rams sweep Mustangs
      The A.R. Rucker Rams, by different methods, took two from the rival South Middle School Mustangs on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in the Lancaster High School gym. The Rucker girls stayed unbeaten on the season with a 60-16 lopsided win over the Lady Mustangs in the opener.
  • SEC honors Thornwell as freshman of the week
      COLUMBIA – South Carolina freshman guard Sindarius Thornwell is the SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists against 10th-ranked Florida and LSU last week. The selection is Thornwell’s first-career player of the week honor.
  • Lancers open practice Jan. 13
      The University of South Carolina Lancers’ baseball team will open practice for the 2014 season on Monday, Jan. 13 at the Lancaster High School baseball field.
  • USC, Clemson put it on the line in big bowl wins
           South Carolina didn’t get the bowl game memo. Neither did Clemson.
  • DSC 98 White U15 boys win State Cup
      The Discoveries (DSC) 98 White (U-15 boys) won the S.C. President’s Medal State Cup Championship in Greenville last weekend. The team finished the regular season 6-0-2 to earn a bid to the state tournament.
  • Riggins posts first hole-in-one
     Former Lancaster High School golf standout Wil Riggins posted his first-ever hole-in-one while playing the Mountaintop Golf and Lake Club in Cashiers, N.C., on Oct. 16. Riggins’ ace came on No. 14 where he used a nine-iron on the 144-yard, par-three hole.
  • North-South soccer stars to decide title in third match
      The North and South 7-8 soccer all-stars met Thursday, Dec. 5 to decide the 2013 Lancaster County Parks and Recreation pee wee all-star soccer champion. The South stars opened play in the best-of-three tournament with a 4-2 win over the North at the Buford Recreation Complex field on Monday, Dec. 2.
  • USC, as of late, holding upper hand on rival Tigers
      As  Williams-Brice Stadium rocked late Saturday night with a landmark win over old foe Clemson University, University of South Carolina football fans found plenty of ways to celebrate. Fittingly, the high five was most appropriate, followed by a timely thumbs up.

  • Big Thursday triumph
    Talk about streaks in the Palmetto State rivalry. The team of University of South Carolina Gamecocks and USC Lancaster Lancers golfers have a solid run going in the 12th annual Big Thursday Scholarship golf tournament. The Lancers and Gamecocks teamed for a solid 15.5-7.5 win over the Clemson University golfers Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Lancaster Golf Club. The golf tournament is part of the Big Thursday Scholarship Inc.’s annual dinner fundraiser at the golf club’s Fairway Room.
