Taylor Banks called his two-time defense of the Lancaster Golf Club championship “a dogfight,” and fittingly so because in the end he’s still the links’ top dog.
Banks, the former Buford High School and University of South Carolina Lancaster star golfer, who is now at Francis Marion University in Florence, shot a six under 138 (69-69) to edge ever-battling Dalton Bradley by a shot to capture his third straight LGC crown.
Matthew Terry shot an even par 144 (73-71) to capture the boys 15-18 win in the Roy Small Junior Championship and the Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association age division title.
Terry, a Central High School of Pageland golfer, also earned the chapter’s Player of the Year Award.
The Lancaster Dixie Boys 13 baseball all-stars finished as the state runner-up in the tournament at Bluffton on Wednesday, July 25.
Sumter, which received a bye, rolled to a 16-0 win over the Lancaster 13s in the state title game.
