  • Greenwood ends P-31's hopes
    Greenwood Post 20 edged Lancaster to end Post 31's hopes in the S.C. American Legion state baseball tournament at Sumter's Riley Park on Sunday, July 26. The game was tied at 1-all in the eighth inning, but Greenwood scored a run on a pair of Lancaster errors for the decisive tally. Lancaster, the League V runner-up, ended its season with a 14-14 record. Post 31 qualified for the state tournament after winning back-to-back best-of-three series with Walhalla and Inman.
  • Post 31 falls to Florence
    Lancaster Post 31 dropped its opening game in the 2015 S.C. American Legion state baseball tournament on Saturday, July 25. Florence topped Lancaster, 12-0 in the 4 p.m. game at Sumter's Riley Park. Florence Post 1 scored two runs each in the opening two innings for a 4-0 edge and broke open the game with eight runs in the fourth. Lancaster will seek to stay alive as it faces Greenwood in an elimination game at 9 a.m. Sunday. James Gardner had two hits to lead the Lancaster offense.
  • Score of aces at the LGC
      The Lancaster Golf Club, featuring hole No. 4, has been the hot spot for a host of holes-in- one in recent links play.  Chuck Loughry posted his first career ace on No. 4, a par three. He used a nine-iron on his 137-yard shot.
  • Dixie Boys 13 stars third in state tourney
      NORTH AUGUSTA – The Lancaster Dixie Boys 13 all-stars dropped a tough loss in the state tournament at River View Park in North Augusta to finish third in the state field.
  • P-31 opens with top seed
      SUMTER – Lancaster Post 31 doesn’t sport the top record in the 2015 S.C. American Legion baseball state tournament, but the P-31 team is ready to play as the tourney opens Saturdary at Sumter’s Riley Park.
  • Post 31 faces Florence in state tournament opener
      Lancaster Post 31, fresh off earning a bid to the state tournament in Sumter, will open play Saturday, July 25 when Lancaster will face top-seeded Florence Post 1 at 4 p.m. in Sumter’s Riley Park. Lancaster, 14-12, is the lone team from S.C. Upper State Legion baseball League V to earn a state berth.
  • Juniors open 2nd-half play with tournament at Kershaw Golf Club
      The Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association opened the second half of the 2015 junior golf season with a visit to the Kershaw Golf Club on Monday, July 13. The Lancaster chapter tournament featured some competitive play in a host of age divisions.
  • Angels stars third in state tournament
      The Lancaster County Dixie Softball Angels all-stars made a solid run in the state tournament at Seneca, but fell short in their postseason hopes. The Lancaster Angels softball all-stars, who won the district title with back-to-back do-or-die wins last month, fell 10-1 to eventual state champion Latta on Wednesday, July 15.
  • Post 31 earns state berth
      INMAN – The Lancaster Post 31 baseball team is state-bound. P-31, in the rubber game of the American Legion baseball Upper State second-round series with Inman Post 45, bounced back to earn a bid to the state tournament.
  • LCST posts strong Aquatics effort
      The Lancaster County swim team Sharks posted a strong showing in the annual Aquatics at the Kershaw Aquatics Center on July 7-8. The Sharks registered 40 firsts during the annual season-ending swim meet.
