    Staff Reports The Lancaster Dixie Boys 13 all-stars captured the District 10 championship and a berth in the state tournament, taking a 19-16 win over York at the Rodman Recreation Complex in Chester County on Sunday, July 6. The 13 all-stars’ three-run win capped a 2-0 sweep of York in the district tournament. The Lancaster team opened the tournament with an 18-1 win over York on Saturday, July 5, at Rodman.

    Eric Rowell For The Lancaster News The Lancaster Post 31 juniors team needed extra innings and key hitting to win game one of the American Legion first-round playoff series with Post 20 of Greenwood. Lancaster Post 31, the runner-up in Region V, hosted game one of the best-of-three playoff series with Greenwood, from Region VII on Monday night at Harvey Eggleton Field.
  • Hodges wins two in July 5 race
    Michael Knight For The Lancaster News Brent Hodges was in the spotlight at Lancaster Super Speedway with two wins Saturday, July 5. Hodges took the checkers in the Pro Street and Crate Sportsman divisions. In the Pro Street main event, the front row was Brent Hodges and Joseph Richardson. When the green flag fell, Hodges, Richardson, Brandy Baker and Andrew Baker battled for the lead in turn one. Exiting turn two, Hodges had the lead, with Baker and Richardson right behind him.
  • Slayton playing key role in FM Knicks' run
     An Andrew Jackson High School basketball player is spending his summer, honing his hoops skills and earning hardwood honors. Michael Slayton, an AJHS junior, is a member of the Fort Mill Knicks who have earned a bid to the 16U AAU national tournament in Orlando, Fla., July 16-20.
  • P-31 juniors face Greenwood Post 20 to open Legion playoffs
      The Lancaster Post 31 junior team, which finished regular-season play as the League V runner, will open the 2014 S.C. American Legion playoffs with a home game against Greenwood. The series, a best-of-three first-round series, moves to Greenwood Post 20 for game two on Tuesday, July 8.

      The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AAA all-stars capped an unbeaten run to capture the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 tournament at the Timken Sports Complex in Union on Wednesday, July 2.

      The Lancaster Post 31 juniors baseball team capped League V regular-season play, notching a pair of wins. The P-31 juniors, 10-4, rallied for a 5-4 win over Rock Hill Post 34 to end regular-season action with an exciting comeback victory Wednesday, July 2.

      The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation swim team Sharks capped an unbeaten regular season with a 244-126 road win over the Chester Waves on Thursday, June 26. Charlee Brooke Henry, Simon Wright and Gracie Scott led the Sharks with four wins each in the meet.

      The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AA National League all-stars, in the machine pitch league, are a diamond machine producing their share of historic success. The AA Nationals, 10-1 in postseason play, completed a 5-0 run in the Dixie Youth Baseball AA machine pitch state tournament Tuesday, July 1.
