Poor roads deter visit from...

I am distraught beyond belief. Because the road that fronts Carolina Christian Academy is constantly spot-patched instead of being fixed correctly, my friends from Indian Land will no longer visit me.
This upsets me that they can’t visit because they have to travel such poor quality highways here.

Lancaster Super Speedway will feature six divisions of racing Saturday night for the June 8 race at the half-mile dirt oval.

Legends Baseball Academy sets...

The Legends Baseball Academy, located at 2333 Airport Road, will host its grand opening Saturday, June 22.

The grand opening will feature a cookout between 2 and 6 p.m. and giveaways.

Tigers win over Makos

The Lancaster Tigers improved to 2-0 on the 2013 summer recreation swim season, taking a rain-shortened 202-148 win over the Lancaster Makos on Thursday, June 13 at the Lancaster County pool.

A late afternoon thunderstorm stopped the meet in the butterfly events.

Taylor gets community...

Ann Taylor was recently recognized for her many years of service to Heath Springs.

Taylor, who’s been mayor of the county's smallest municipality since 1990, received the Hettie Ricket Leadership Award last month in North Myrtle Beach.

The S.C. Community Development Association presented the award, which honors those who are community-development leaders. The group is affiliated with the Municipal Association of South Carolina.

Tigers, Makos set for swim season

The Lancaster County Recreation Commission summer swim team program will again feature two Lancaster area teams – the Tigers and the Makos.

Summer is finally here

I made it through May, in real good shape.
Of course, I had to go over to Central School and walk around that May Pole, wrapping a strip of colored crepe paper while bunches of children from all over town stood in little huddles and sang songs nobody knew.
It might make our teachers and principals happy but it sure seemed like a waste of time to me.
Betcha if they just passed out Dixie cups of chocolate ice cream we would’ve had more fun.
It’s always amazed me how grown-ups can mess up a good thing.

The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation coach pitch all-star teams saw their seasons end in the Little League Baseball S.C. District 8 tournament at Oakridge Middle School in Tega Cay on Friday, June 14.
