Leadership Lancaster expands my...

I routinely tease Dean Faile for a comment he seemed to make at each Leadership Lancaster session.

“This is by far my favorite day of the entire program!” I’m pretty sure I heard him say that at least four times during our six-month program sponsored by the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce.

When looking back, though, I can see why he was moved to that opinion.

Severe thunderstorm warning...

The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the northern portion of Lancaster County until 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the entire county until 1 a.m. Friday, June 14.

Man fatally injured crossing...

RICHBURG – A man who was living at the Relax Inn in Richburg was fatally injured when he attempted to cross Lancaster Highway (S.C. 9) about 11 p.m. Monday.

Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker said Bobby Tony Clark, 41, and his girlfriend were living at the motel, which is near I-77, and had walked across the street to the BP station.

When the couple realized Clark had left his wallet in the room, Clark left to go get it.

Heavy rain headed this way

Get ready to get wet.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy rain could drench this part of the Carolinas today as moisture from Tropical Storm Andrea collides with a lingering cold front.

The Associated Press reported Thursday, June 6, that up to 4 inches of rain could fall across the state through Saturday. 

The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for Andrea along the Grand Strand. The heaviest rainfall is expected along the coast, where the center of the storm is expected to move. 

Looks like an inside job

Our government is run by immoral and dishonest figures who pursue policies and actions designed to ruin America. It’s a war waged on America, sadly, from the inside.
Sinister and destructive actions of America’s leadership, including the behavior of political parties, but especially the radical left, the mainstream media, the White House and President Barack Obama are leading to our demise.

Caregivers need respite

Richard Band devoted 35 years to the Lancaster County Library and it’s likely his legacy will be felt for years to come.
Band, 64, retired May 31 after spending nearly half of his life improving and expanding the Lancaster County Library system.
Band’s impact is obvious.
“When I came, we had no branches and were only open one night a week,” Band said. “We had a big old card catalog in the middle of the room with 40,000 cards that took up all the room. There wasn’t a lot of technology.”

School choice, though limited,...

There are few things that bring me more pleasure as chairman of the S.C. Republican Party than praising our state’s elected officials for focusing on truly meaningful reforms. Recently, members of our state Senate did just that.
For more than a decade, school choice has been a big part of the national dialogue on education reform. In fact, 22 other states currently have school choice programs. That number is growing year after year.

Indian Land finished eighth overall in the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association Director’s Cup standings for Class AA high schools.
