The Lancaster SPCA, (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) a nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to saving unwanted dogs and puppies in the Lancaster County area, recently rushed to action to preserve a litter of puppies when the mother dog unexpectedly died.
The Lancaster Dixie Baseball Class AAA all-stars capped an unbeaten run –5-0 – to the District 2 championship and a state title tournament berth with a 9-4 win over Union in York on Wednesday, June 24.
I would like to start by saying that I am disappointed that the conversation in South Carolina – largely driven by those outside our state – has been focused on a flag, rather than the victims of a heinous crime and their courageous and forgiving families.
While I always welcome debate on a divisive issue, I prefer that debate not come on the heels of a tragedy before the victims have even been laid to rest.
The Lancaster Rotary Club celebrated its 75th anniversary with fanfare and fun Thursday, June 25, at the University of South Carolina Lancaster Carole Ray Dowling Center.
Susan Rowell, outgoing club president, welcomed the crowd of more than 75 to the momentous occasion.
A proclamation was presented to the club by fellow Rotarians, Lancaster County Council Chairman Bob Bundy and Councilwoman Charlene McGriff. The proclamation declared June 25 Rotary Day in Lancaster County.
Lancaster County Parks and Recreation is grateful for all the vendors and donations given to support our career fair, held June 15 at Buford Recreation Center. The career fair could not have been possible without them.
We cannot thank the vendors and businesses enough. They are the reason the career fair was such a success.
