Summer is finally here

I made it through May, in real good shape.
Of course, I had to go over to Central School and walk around that May Pole, wrapping a strip of colored crepe paper while bunches of children from all over town stood in little huddles and sang songs nobody knew.
It might make our teachers and principals happy but it sure seemed like a waste of time to me.
Betcha if they just passed out Dixie cups of chocolate ice cream we would’ve had more fun.
It’s always amazed me how grown-ups can mess up a good thing.

Lancers golf team nets best...

 

   

The University of South Carolina Lancaster golf team posted its best finish ever in the NJCAA national championship tournament in Lubbock, Texas.

CPTC captures 41 awards at...

The Columbus Parker Track Club, a Lancaster area youth track club, captured 41 awards at the recent Battle of the Borders meet in Inman.

The CPTC competed in a field of 1,200 athletes and received recognition for finishing 13th out of 33 teams.

Tigers win over Makos

The Lancaster Tigers improved to 2-0 on the 2013 summer recreation swim season, taking a rain-shortened 202-148 win over the Lancaster Makos on Thursday, June 13 at the Lancaster County pool.

A late afternoon thunderstorm stopped the meet in the butterfly events.

Legends Baseball Academy sets...

The Legends Baseball Academy, located at 2333 Airport Road, will host its grand opening Saturday, June 22.

The grand opening will feature a cookout between 2 and 6 p.m. and giveaways.

The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation coach pitch all-star teams saw their seasons end in the Little League Baseball S.C. District 8 tournament at Oakridge Middle School in Tega Cay on Friday, June 14.

Citizens deserve better from...

To all of our so-called district judges – your system of dealing out justice sucks.
Once again, we read in The Lancaster News where another career violent criminal is set loose to do more violent crimes – even more violent crimes than the ones before.
The article about the Samuel thug (Markevious Demond Samuel) being out of jail after being convicted on so may previous counts of violent crimes makes me and every other Lancaster County citizen sick to our stomachs.

LBC sets summer leagues

 

   

The Lancaster Bowling Center has begun its Tuesday Night Carolina Sun Bowling League 6:45 p.m. each Tuesday at the LBC. The league is for beginning and experienced adult bowlers.
