  • Column: Good governance by officials is the taxpayers’ expectation

There are two important lessons we can learn from Hurricane Irma: One, that we as a nation possess remarkable resolve when faced with adversity. And two, that we offer too much praise to government leaders who are simply doing their job.

  • Letter: Rosemont is a bad choice for Indian Land post office location

My husband and I are in complete opposition to the proposed location for an Indian Land postal facility for numerous reasons.
◆ This facility should be more centrally located in the area it is supposed to serve. Somewhere off U.S. 521 between S.C. 160 and Sun City Carolina Lakes is a more suitable location.
◆ A facility of this size – 15,000 square feet – should not be placed at the entrance of a residential neighborhood. The aesthetics alone are detrimental.

  • Letter: Reader has questions about moving library to Springs Block

The possibility of the county council moving the public library to the Tucker Building on Main Street raises many questions.
One matter left unsaid in the Lancaster News article is what will happen to the current library building and property on White Street. Will another county department move there? Could it be EMS?

  • Column: Greenway will make Lancaster more livable, boost our economy

How often have you had that conversation with your neighbor? The one where you shake your head and wonder aloud about what this community needs to get back on the right path?
What if I told you that the path is right in front of us, and that together we can build the vibrant future that Lancaster deserves?

  • Letter: Thanks to all at Heath Springs fest

Thanks to all who participated and attended September Fest 2017 in Heath Springs on Sept. 16. Only because of you, it was a great success! Look forward to seeing you next year at September Fest 2018.

  • Letter: Let’s all unite in conservation

I am 8 years old and in the third grade at SC Connections Academy. We are studying conservation in South Carolina.
It is important to turn off lights so that we can save energy. Recycling plastic water bottles is good for the environment. Also remember that planting trees is good for our health. It is beautiful too.
I am proud to be a South Carolinian. Don’t waste God’s resources. Thank you.

  • Letter: You name it, Hillary’s blaming it

As if the country hasn’t had enough of the Clintons’ narcissistic need for the limelight, we are now deluged with the “why I lost” book campaign of Hillary Clinton.
She’s making sure she hits all the liberal news channels, which will never ask any important or meaningful questions. You name it, she’s blaming it.

  • Letter: Business owner goes extra mile

In our society these days, people are always harping on the negative, so I want to share a story about something good in our community.
Mr. Mike Gilmore is the owner of the UPS Store in Lancaster, and I utilize his store’s services often. At the beginning of August, I shipped my son a nice pendant and necklace, but the package was lost in the warehouse in Tennessee. When I realized my son did not receive his package, I contacted the UPS Store in Lancaster, and they investigated the matter.
