  • Column: Kershaw’s Stevens Park playground needs your support

The Kershaw Community Park Council is partnering with the town of Kershaw to build a custom-designed historic “destination playground” within Stevens Park.
Our community recently suffered the loss of our very special playground, and the impact of that loss has been hugely significant for those residing in the southern end of Lancaster County.

  • Letter: Valentine visits to VA hospital

This Valentine’s Day, many S.C. veterans who fought to preserve our freedoms will be hospitalized, receiving the medical care they earned, but separated from the homes and communities they defended.
No one should be alone on Valentine’s Day, and with the help of our grateful community, no veteran has to be.

  • Column: Dominion offer is a costly payday loan

You are being offered a payday loan. You will get a $1,000 check today. The only catch is that you will have to make payments over the next 20 years totaling $4,500. Do you take the deal?
When you see something that looks too good to be true, it usually is. Make sure you read the fine print.
This is the deal that Dominion Energy is offering SCANA (SCE&G) customers in its proposed purchase/merger of SCANA, the utility provider for a third of South Carolina.

  • Column: Dominion executive: Proposal to buy SCE&G is good for ratepayers

The proposed partnership between South Carolina Electric & Gas and its parent company, SCANA, with Dominion Energy would benefit all South Carolinians. Once approved, the combination of the two companies would provide rate relief for customers, help community organizations, and protect thousands of jobs in the Palmetto State.
This is good news for families and communities served by SCE&G, who have seen electric rates dramatically increase in recent years because of the unfinished nuclear power facility at V.C. Summer.

  • Column: U.S. in political civil war as Dems won’t accept election

I believe America is in another civil war. There are no soldiers in the streets. There is no shooting yet, except in Democrat-controlled cities like Chicago and Baltimore. That is really just the nature of Democrat-controlled cities.
Guns and shooting do not make a civil war. Politics makes a civil war. Guns are how a civil war ends when truth cannot be determined and agreed on by both parties.

  • Letter: Let’s all pray for Mayor Howard

I am writing this letter for myself and all other citizens of Lancaster, to express the thoughts and prayers that are in all our hearts regarding Mayor John Howard.
We all know John’s illness is taking a toll on him. I am asking each citizen to add their own private prayers on behalf of John, asking God to watch over him and help him recover from this illness.
    Thank you.
