WSOC, CNN and FOX news stations recently said that Americans want to pay $4 a gallon for gas to show the world that we were doing great. I thought the Constitution was for the people not crap the people.
We recently filled our car with gas and it cost $2.85 a gallon. BP assured Americans that it would pay for the damages from the Gulf Coast oil spill. I feel like we are the ones paying the cost.

I would like to thank The Lancaster News for printing the photo of the veterans monument that will be built in Heath Springs. The caption with the picture tells readers that the Heath Springs Veterans Association plans to honor its veterans with an 18-foot monument.
As Paul Harvey would say, “Now for the rest of the story.”
This will be a veterans monument and not a memorial. The monument is for all Lancaster County veterans of all branches of service from the Spanish American War to the present day, which includes active-duty servicemen and women.

The dreams of a white Christmas were fulfilled for many South Carolinians this year, with snow beginning on Christmas Day in the upstate and moving throughout most of the state on Dec. 26.
For S.C. Department of Transportation maintenance employees, a white Christmas means a working Christmas.
Maintenance crews in 44 of the 46 counties worked over the holiday weekend, plowing snow from the roadways or placing anti-icing chemicals on roads and bridges in an effort to prevent ice from developing.

Thanks from the Friends of the Del Webb Library Used Book Room for supporting our holiday book sale Dec. 4.
Our sale total for books, calendars and bookmarks was $543, which easily surpassed our December 2009 sale total of $300.
Also a tremendous thanks to those of you who became generous members in 2010, supported us with your book donations and, of course, those of you who made regular purchases.
