As a young leader at my school and church, I can be kind and respectful to everyone. Once a month, I help serve food to the homeless at my church. I know that Dr. King cared about the poor and hungry.
My family donates toys and food during the holidays to shelters. This makes me happy because other children will have food to eat and new toys to play with.
I am a member of the Multicultural Committee at school, where I learn about other cultures and religions.

I find it interesting that Representative “Mick” Mulvaney decided to take advantage of the health care available to congressional members.
This plan is heavily subsidized with broad choices, generous provisions and low premiums.  
This is available at lower rates because it has about 8 million policyholders nationwide.
This situation reflects the unfairness and uncaring attitude that has been demonstrated by many politicians, most of whom are members of the Republican Party.

The Council on Aging Heath Springs Lunch Bunch, home-delivered seniors, Heath Springs community shut-in seniors, Mount Calvary Outreach seniors in Kershaw and Kershaw community shut-in seniors would like to express our utmost appreciation to the Hillside High School Class of 1970 for the wonderful shoe box gifts for Christmas.
Words cannot adequately express our sincere appreciation to the class of 1970 for the love you have shown us.
Please be assured that the boxes contained useful items that will carry us well into the new year.

In recent weeks, the debate on the county’s dog ordinances has come back into the spotlight. I have read several criticisms of the current ordinances and as one of the members of the committee who helped write these, I wished to address my views on this very important topic.
