As an elected official, I am aware how hard it can be to get some people interested in voting. In 1973, when I was able to register to vote, I had no interest whatsoever in doing so.
My best friend, Randolph English, said, “If you do not vote, I have nothing more to say to you.”
To maintain our friendship, in 1988, 15 years after I was eligible to register, I did so and have been an active participant ever since.
