I would like to address an issue with Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile. I think it is pretty bad when you will no longer provide an officer escort for a funeral.
It is bad enough when people don’t respect a funeral line to stop when they meet one. But to not have an officer at intersections and stoplights has just about hit the bottom of the bucket.
Not everyone can afford to hire an officer to guide traffic for them.

Statism will not work anywhere, now or ever

Everywhere one looks, statism is an abject failure. Look and compare Venezuela with Chile, Cuba with Colombia, North Korea to South Korea. Just look at the United Kingdom in 1950 and compare it to itself in 1990.

The union riots in Europe were not to embrace socialism, but to find someone somewhere to somehow pay for their unsupportable benefits. They believe that the “someone” is probably on some hedonistic island somewhere with a vault of cash to pay for it all.

I would like to thank the community of Lancaster for wrapping your loving arms around my family during the loss of my father, C.B. Mathis.

Wednesday morning felt like any other day. I went to work, my mom went to the gym and my dad prepared himself for another busy day in real estate. Never in a million years did I think, Wednesday, May 25, my dad, at age 66, would take his last breath.

In response to Caroline Hasty’s letter to the editor about Lancaster’s first Easter egg hunt, we would like to thank Caroline Hasty for her hard work and dedication to Lancaster County.   
Caroline welcomed the Lancaster High School Civinettes with open arms when we  
contacted her about an idea for a community-wide Easter egg hunt. She patiently listened to each idea offered by my girls and allowed them to put their plans into action.
