I agree with Sun City residents and letter writers Tom and Maryann White. U.S. 521 is a mess, not only in Indian Land, but the entire four lane from the Lancaster city limits to the North Carolina state line needs improvement.
I recall the highway signs from the past that  read, “See the best state on the best roads.” Maybe an earlier version, “The Iodine State,” would be more appropriate.

When our country was young, the British and the Europeans kept coming, pushing to the west.
On Sunday, they rested from work and gathered at church. They remembered the Sabbath Day.
In Charlotte, the owners of Ivey’s Store pulled the shades down and you couldn’t window shop on Sundays.
It’s a shame restaurant owners think they can’t make it without alcohol sales.
I don’t think alcohol should be the drawing card for the restaurants.

 I believe the lyrics from John Lennon, “So this is Christmas,” is an appropriate way to start this letter. It is Christmas all over the world. As I acknowledge this, I cannot help but wonder which country and who are the people who keep and honor Christmas in the most fitting way. Is it the United States? Is it the fact that we have 9 percent unemployment; due in part to the fact that so, so many of our Christmas gifts come from other countries?

Ann Coulter said it best in her column, “Once you go conservative black, you’d better watch your back.”
What she means by this is the frenzy of coverage that Herman Cain has gotten for those so-called sexual harassment allegations. First off, there is not one shred of evidence brought forward so far against Mr. Cain. The credibility of these women is very suspect.
