As the S.C. 9 traffic whizzed by, I was thinking maybe Mr. Williams did too good of a job as resident maintenance engineer for Lancaster County.
Mr. Williams, as I knew him, is the late Steve Clyburn Williams Jr., who worked 40 years with the S.C. Department of Transportation to make sure county roads were in good shape.
The way the nearby traffic rumbled by the Lancaster headquarters of the SCDOT, it was a challenge to hear.

“Sometimes people just need to see it to believe it,” said Les Woods, president of the S.C. Fire and Life Safety Education Association (SC FALSE).
That’s why SC FALSE will intentionally light two fires in front of a live audience at noon Saturday at Walmart, 805 S.C. 9 Bypass West, during the 17th annual Fire Safety Expo.

I would like to thank our Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile. This man has a tremendous load to handle. He is doing a wonderful job. He comes from a law enforcement background and he knows every aspect of law enforcement.
We, as a society, are quick to criticize. But when praise is due, we forget.
I, for one, call them every holiday and thank them and also our Police Chief Harlean Howard. She is also doing a great job. She is an asset to the city of Lancaster. God bless you too, Chief Howard.
These people risk their lives every day for us.

If anyone needs more proof that the White House sold us a bill of goods when it pressured Congress to pass the “stimulus” act of 2009, just look at what has happened with Solyndra Inc.
 Those who’ve been following the news lately probably know that Solyndra was a California solar energy company that’s just filed for bankruptcy protection after receiving a half-billion dollar government loan under the stimulus act. The bankruptcy, of course, is terrible news for taxpayers.
