    There were more questions than answers at a special called meeting of Lancaster County Council on Friday, June 27, to discuss funding for Lancaster County Economic Development Corp. 

    Among the questions were why was Lancaster County rejected from the I-77 Alliance?

    Did a secret recording take place during an executive session of an Alliance meeting?

    Will the county reinstate the frozen LCEDC funds?

  • Angels National all-stars fall short in district play


    Host Chester played the spoiler as it defeated the Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Dixie Softball Angels National League all-star softball team Thursday, June 26.

    The National Angels, ages ages 9-10, were eliminated from the Dixie Softball District 2 tournament with the loss to Chester.

  • P-31 seniors seeking to rebound


    The Lancaster Post 31 senior squad will seek to get back on track in League V American Legion baseball play with a home twin bill with Clover Post 38 on Monday, June 30.

    Lancaster, 3-5 in League V play, had a tough week as it dropped three games.

  • Evans nets second win in LJGA play


    Baylee Evans posted her second straight win in the girls 14-18 age division of the Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association tournament Monday, June 23.

    The chapter played a split tournament with the age 13-over golfers competing at the Edgewater Golf Club and the 12-under golfers playing at the Lancaster Golf Club.

  • Ozone NL wins district


    GAFFNEY – The Lancaster Dixie Baseball Ozone National League all-stars, ages 11-12, did it the hard way, but accomplished the diamond mission.

  • Balcom-Brasington Wedding

    Courtney Michelle Balcom, 19, and Alexander Kyle Brasington, 20, were married at 10 a.m. May 19, 2014, at the Lancaster County Courthouse.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Balcom of Monroe. She is a 2013 graduate of Monroe High School.
    The groom is the son of Daniel and Nancy Brasington of Lancaster. He is the grandson of Joyce Brasington of Lancaster and the late James Brasington. He is a 2013 graduate of Buford High School.
    Maid of Honor was Kaila Brasington of Lancaster, sister-in-law of the bride.

  • McCowan-Mooney Wedding

    Donna Mills McCowan and Michael Roy Mooney were married April 6, 2014, at Grace Freewill Baptist Church in Lancaster by the Rev. Rodger Anders.
    The bride is the daughter of the late Julian and Inez Mills.
    The groom is the son of the late John and Bonnie Mooney. He received an associate’s degree from York Technical College and is a maintenance technician with Thomas and Betts.
    After a honeymoon in Myrtle Beach, the couple lives in Lancaster.

    Gary and Delta Watson of Lancaster announce the engagement of their daughter, Erin Teal Watson of Columbia, to Shaun Everett Jacobson of Irmo.
    The wedding is planned for 4:30 p.m. Aug. 2, 2014, at Glassy Mountain Chapel in Landrum.

    Miss Roller is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James West Coxe of Shallotte, N.C. She is a graduate of the Marlboro Academy, Dillon Christian School and Horry-Georgetown Technical College. She is an R.N. unit manager with The Rehab Center at
    Morrell in Hartsville.
