    Indian Land High School senior runner James Gregory led the Lancaster County athletes in the Class AA state meet Saturday, May 11 at Lower Richland High School.

    Gregory, who has signed to run cross country at Erskine College, placed third in the 800-meter run to win a bronze medal.

  • Warriors returning to AA state title match

    The Indian Land Warriors are returning to the Class AA state championship soccer match.

    The 19-4 Warriors built a 2-0 halftime lead and added a second-half goal to capture their second straight Class AA Upper State championship.

    The Warriors, the 2012 state runners-up, will face Class AA Lower State champion Bishop England at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at Gilbert High School.

    Bishop England, 16-7, edged Academic Magnet for the Lower State title, prevailing 3-1 in penalty kicks.

  • Man dies after ejected from truck

    A Lancaster man died early Sunday, May 12, after he was ejected from a pickup truck along a county road. 

    Otis Patterson, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene of the one-vehicle accident shortly after 2 a.m., said Lancaster County Deputy Coroner Tony Broome. He died from blunt force trauma to his head and chest, Broome said.

    The 2013 Celebration of Excellence, the annual Lancaster County School District’s salute to the best in education and service, included its annual induction of hall of fame members.
    Four deserving individuals, who made an impact in the classroom and beyond, took center stage on Monday, April 29, at the Lancaster Golf Club’s Fairway Room.
    The latest inductees included Bennett Gunter, C.C. Hanson, Ann Hough and Floyd White.
