  • A group of ‘merry warriors’

    Those retired hammer jockeys are at it again.
    This time, Sun City’s Friends of Habitat are remodeling a home in the Antioch area for a couple through Habitat for Humanity’s Veterans Build initiative.
    For the past two months, they’ve been helping rebuild the Beacon Road home of U.S. Navy veteran Deanna Mackey, and her husband, Richard Mackey.

  • IL murder suspect captured

    After a two-day manhunt, David Antonio Kucinski was captured at a Charlotte hotel Thursday evening, charged with killing an acquaintance and dumping his body in Indian Land.
    Kucinski was taken into custody without incident by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department after authorities received a tip about his whereabouts, said sheriff’s spokesman Doug Barfield. No other information about the arrest was available at press time.

  • Plyler - Rollings Engagement

    Mr. and Mrs. Mike Criminger announce the engagement of their daughter, Chasity Hope Plyler, to Bradley Lewis Rollings, all of Heath Springs.

    The wedding is planned for 6 p.m. April 23, 2016, at Coker Ranch.

    Miss Plyler received her massage therapy license in 2007 and is a message therapist at Celanese Chiropractic.

    Carter and Regina Dobson announce the engagement of their daughter, Addelyn Claire Dobson, to Matthew Timothy Martin, all of Lancaster.

    The wedding is planned for Oct. 15, 2016, in Monroe, N.C.

    Miss Dobson is the granddaughter of George and the late Charlene Dobson and Joe and the late Martha Sanders, all of Lancaster.

  • Hilliard - Reed Engagement

    Jerry and Beth Ann Hilliard of Heath Springs and Leslie Rollins of Lancaster announce the engagement of their daughter, Jasimane Ann Hilliard of Heath Springs, to Robbie Dale Reed Jr. of Heath Springs.

    The wedding is planned for 3:30 p.m. April 9, 2016, at Victory Worship Center.

    Miss Hilliard is a 2013 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School. She is employed at Key Benefit Administrators of Fort Mill and Sally’s Beauty Supply of Lancaster.

    Bertha Mae Dooley and Michael Woodson Sr., both of Lancaster, were married March 12, 2016, at Mount Nebo Baptist Church in Lancaster.

    The bride is the daughter of Christine and Bobbyben McIlwain of Lancaster.

    She is a 1973 graduate of Barr Street High School. She is retired.

    The groom is the son of the late James Frank and Margarette Woodson of Washington, D.C.

    He is a 1975 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Washington, D.C. He is retired.

  • Fischer - Mackey Engagement

    Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Fischer Sr. announce the engagement of their daughter Karen Denise Fischer of Lancaster to Nathan Lee Mackey of Charlotte, N.C.

    Miss Fischer is a graduate of Colleton Preparatory Academy, Winthrop University, Furman University and the University of South Carolina. She is a teacher at Lancaster High School.

    Mr. Mackey is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce B. Mackey of Heath Springs.
