    With its 125th anniversary less than three years away, Belk Inc. has launched an updated corporate identity that projects the company’s restated mission “to satisfy the modern Southern lifestyle like no one else, so that our customers get the fashion they desire and the value they deserve.”
    A new graphics package will refresh the company’s visual identity with a new corporate logo, color palette and tagline - Modern. Southern. Style. The new logo and tagline represent the first significant change in the company’s brand identity since 1967.

  • Keep less fortunate in mind this holiday

    It may be trite to say it’s better to give than to receive. But is it? Doesn’t it make you feel good when you give something that makes a loved one happy? And doesn’t it make you feel good when you give something that helps somebody else, especially somebody who is less fortunate than you are?
    Thanksgiving is a holiday when we traditionally gather with family and friends for a big feast. It’s a time when we Americans give thanks for what we have – our health, our family, the roof overheads, the job that pays the bills, etc.

  • Sumner wins special election

    Bill Sumner will once again hold local elected office.
    Sumner defeated Ronald Burke on Tuesday in a special election for the District 4 seat on the Lancaster County school board. The seat had been held by Dr. Peter Barry, who died in September.
    Sumner got 254 votes (70 percent) and Burke got 103 (29 percent), according to the unofficial results. Al Simpson, who withdrew from the race weeks ago, got two votes.
