I recently noticed an obvious and hopefully, an innocent misprint in the March 9 edition of The Neighbors of York and Lancaster County in The Charlotte Observer.

The story was the coverage of S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford's support of Mick Mulvaney, a Republican candidate for the S.C. Senate 16 District.

The Lancaster News had already covered the story with the correct information. Along with the story was similar photo that was published in The Lancaster News. It was a photo of Sanford, Mulvaney and Mulvaney's wife.

If you mention St. Patrick to Father John O’Holahan, his reply won’t center on wearing green, eating traditional Irish dishes or holiday parades.

It will center on not wearing shoes, fasting on black tea and dry bread and three days of prayer and penance as he recalls the pilgrimage he made several years ago to the island lake St. Patrick’s Purgatory in Ireland.

O’Holahan, who pastors St. Catherine Catholic Church in Lancaster, wrote an account of the time he visited the island that many consider the loneliest place in Ireland.

It’s something that should never happen – a child being attacked by a dog.

But it does happen. According to the Centers for Disease Control, dogs bite 4.7 million people a year. Sometimes it’s unprovoked. Witnesses have said the attacks by pit bulls on two 10-year-old boys in Lancaster recently were unprovoked.

The Lancaster High School girls improved to 3-2-1 after posting a 2-1 home soccer win over Rock Hill on Friday night.Cady Creighton and Sidney Teague each tallied a goal to boost the LHS win.Tesha Tipton had five saves at the net for the Lady Bruins.In the jayvee match, Rock Hill won 2-0.The Lady Bruins host Fort Mill on Tuesday.The LHS varsity and junior varsity matches with York rained out at home March 7 have been reset for April 21.
