  • Van Wyck gun store burglarized

    Surveillance footage shows a group of men stealing several weapons from a Van Wyck gun store early Sunday morning. 

    The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office released photos Thursday from a surveillance video that captured a burglary Aug. 28 inside Discount Guns, located at 5219 Old Hickory Road, Van Wyck.

    According to a sheriff’s office press release, deputies responded to the store after receiving a notification from an alarm company at 4:58 a.m. The company said an alarm in the gun store had been activated. 

  • Cemetery talk: Lapse in code?

    KERSHAW – Does the town of Kershaw explicitly spell out what can and cannot be placed on grave sites at the town-owned cemetery on Edwards Street? 

    Plot owners have expressed concerns after they discovered ornaments and other items had been recently removed from grave sites and placed in a corner at the cemetery – without notifying families first. 

  • Man arrested for attacking woman, jumping on car

    A Lancaster man was arrested last week for the assault of a 17-year-old woman during which he reportedly jumped on her car. 

    Ahmad Rashad Craig, 21, 109 S. Gregory St., was arrested Aug. 26 and charged with third-degree assault and battery and malicious injury to property less than $2,000 after police say he attacked a Lancaster woman and then damaged her car on Aug. 14. 

    Police spoke with the victim in the lobby of the police department only minutes after the attack, according to a police department incident report.

  • LHS golfers win opener with NFHS

    The Lancaster High School golf team captured its opener, downing Nation Ford of Fort Mill, 190-219.

    Alexandria McCain led the LHS girls with a 41 and Emily Cox followed with a 46. Carley Snyder shot a 51 and Carly Funderburk finished with a 52. Other LHS scores: Rachael Hovis, 55, and Ina Roberts with a 63.
