  • Ozone NL stars unbeaten; AL rebounds to stay alive


    The Lancaster National League Ozone all-stars stayed unbeaten in the Dixie Youth District 2 tournament at Gaffney, taking a 22-3 win over Union on Monday, June 23.

    The Lancaster NL tallied 12 runs in the first inning and added 10 runs in the second inning on the way to the 19-run win.

  • Sharks top Rays in storm-shortened meet




    The Lancaster County Sharks upped their record to 4-0 on the season with a storm-shortened 144-47 win over the Kershaw Stingrays on Thursday, June 19.

  • Juniors rally for 9-8 win

     The Lancaster American Legion Post 31 junior baseball team came all the way back to take a 9-8 road win over Rock Hill Post 34 on Monday, June 23.

    The Lancaster juniors, down 7-1 after the opening inning, rallied late to post the one-run win.

  • Spearman, Thompson and McMaster win in party runoffs

    In most Lancaster County elections, the ballots that get counted first are those in the absentee box. 

  • Five arrested during meth sweep

    Five people were arrested and several endangered children found as Lancaster County Drug Task Force agents found three meth labs during a three-day stretch last week.

  • Crawford-Dix Engagement

    Beth and George Crawford announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Crawford, all of Lancaster, to Jonathan Dix of Heath Springs.
    The wedding is planned for 2 p.m. July 26, 2014, at St. Luke United Methodist Church.

    Ashley Bizzell of Rock Hill and Matt Bizzell of Moravian Falls, N.C., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kendall Leigh Bizzell of Rock Hill, to Cheyne Wriston Horne of Lancaster.
    The wedding is planned for 5 p.m. July 12, 2014, at Spring Hill Baptist Church with a reception to follow in the Yancey Lou Hall at Home Place Bed and Breakfast.

  • Underdown-Cantwell Engagement

    Mr. and Mrs. Steven Charles Underdown announce the engagement of their daughter, Christiana Lynn Underdown, all of Hickory, N.C., to Walter Joseph Cantwell of Mt. Pleasant.
    The wedding is planned for 5:30 p.m. April 25, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church in Hickory.

  • Mauney-Dean Wedding

    Jordan Lee Mauney and the Rev. Dustin Drake Dean were married Feb. 1, 2014, at Temple Baptist Church in Gaffney by the Rev. Court Greene of Shelby.
    The bride is the daughter of Ken and Karen Mauney of Boiling Springs. She is the granddaughter of Kenneth and Becky Hudson of Lancaster and Jack and Betty Mauney of Shelby. She is the great granddaughter of Nadine Ghent and the late Cecil Ghent and the late Henry and Birdie Hudson. She is a graduate of Spartanburg Community College and currently a senior at Liberty University Online Studies.
